The same has been happening to me with a GTX 980 for the last 2 months. I'm back to El Capitan until nvidia releases new drivers that hopefully solve this issue.
The current support of graphic cards for hackintosh is depressing.
Yeah, that works at first but the following days when you install programs that modify somehow the kernel cache the black screen appears sometimes :(
There's an error sometimes too when you rebuild the kernel cache, "it already exists" or something like that.
Could you put the system to sleep...
Nope, and sleep also makes the screen go black. I don't know if its a problem of nVidia webdrivers, fakeSMC, Clover or what but I'm back to El Capitan on my main computer until the situation becomes stable.
sudo nano /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mattsday.antipop.plist
paste the text of the program
ctrl + o to save the file
ctrl + x to exit
sudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.mattsday.antipop.plist
I've installed Sierra with user definition 14,2, then I changed it to 17,1 to match my skylake system and did the "Problem 4", "Method 3" fix of the black screen thread, rebooted and the system was ok.
The only problem I'm having is after installing some applications like Photoshop, on the next...

Sorry but I don't have time right now to do it, thats why I attached the template with comments too, so you can modify it to fit your needs. Everything you need is here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/10-11-0-10-11-3-skylake-starter-guide.179221/#DetailedUSB
I have a 980 with system definition 17,1. Sometimes when I install a program and reboot the screen goes black on both monitors... The only way to fix this for me is to disable SIP on config.plist: CsrActiveConfig -> 0x67
Then after one boot the system goes back to normal and can change...
I want to share the USB limit port SSDT file (and template) for the Asus Z170-A motherboard.
This SSDT patch only has these ports defined:
- 2 USB2/USB3 ports connected to the USB3_12 motherboard header. These ports are usually connected to the front of your case.
- 2 USB2 ports at the...
I don't have experience with AMD cards so can't comment about your problem. I recommend you to search on the forum what other users with your card brand did to make it work.
I didn't have sound problems either, all I did was select internal speaker on the configuration and connect the...
I haven't noticed any slowdowns so far. The system is stable without the patches, I'm using it everyday for 10 hours or so and everything works fine.
By the way, I did another change to the build. I noticed that my USB devices were getting voltage when the system was off (the light on the mouse...
