I installed the Asus Hyper M.2 x16 Card V2, with 2 x Western Digital 500gb NVMEs. (I use Asus X99-S running Catalina with Opencore)
When I booted up, OSX said to initialise the new NVMe. Unfortunately it only recognised one of the NVMEs. I changed the PCIe slot. It then recognised the other...
@seevolas Many thanks for all your posts in this thread. I managed to install Catalina today. :)
This post below was very important in getting me through to the Installer. I also used @seevolas' EFI folder.
Most things seem to be working quite well. I need to work on Sleep and also default Boot...
Strange as the 970 EVO and the 970 EVO PLUS both share the NVMe 1.3 specification.
I've tried different formats ExFat/NTFS/APFS/HFS
Removing a PCIe card that shares lanes
Removing some KEXTS
Adding the SSDT fix to make it internal
Still crashes the whole osX after a minute or so.
Any suggestions on a laptop with a fairly painless installation?
I'm thinking i7 with 8 or 16gb memory - mid range performance.
A few years back I had the 4530s which was fairly painless and quite reliable - something similar but more up to date would be super.
Me neither yet. I don't think this applies to your motherboard but it might be something worth looking into.Otherwise PCI mapping..
Here is a possibility
