Did you make sure the USB stick is in an USB2 port? Installing via USB3 wasn't possible for me on that board. I had to plug my drive in the back for the installation (make sure it's the USB2 port).

I currently run an asus p8z77-v pro with i7-3770k and gtx680. I recall having much higher scores in the past with the same hardware but I current hit the low 12000 with my latest Mavericks refresh. Boot drive is ssd and I have another hdd for music/pictures. thanks

I've seen some on ebay and sites like Craigslist.com. It's good because you can go test the machine before spending the money. If you do buy one from these sellers make sure you test important stuff : sleep/wake, usb2/usb3 and network good luck

I think you get this if you don't put the usb disk in the right USB2 port.. if you use the blue ports it won't work.
