[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

Yikes, I may have just thrown away $15. Time will tell haha. Sadly while hackintoshing is great my top priority must remain Windows, and the DW1560 + Windows never worked on my X1C G3.

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

@Khalid: I acquired a DW1820a and also ran into tremendous trouble trying to get it working in OSX. It seems like there are multiple DW1820a card with varying subsystem ids. Is your card a CN-08PKF4? Everyone that I've asked who's card has worked well has the following part number...

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

Did the DW1820A work within Windows? What about your DW1560? I never could get my DW1560's to work in Windows. They work beautifully in Mac.

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

I didn't try upgrading from the App Store. I used USB and it worked well, so I guess that's what I'd recommend.

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

I don't have my laptop with me at the moment. I followed Rehabmans notes here for Mojave. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/ The one thing that immediately sticks out to me is that you're using apfs.efi (which might be fine)...

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

Before Apr 2018 the official VoodooPS2Controller by Rehabman had little to no Thinkpad support at all. During those times individuals such as myself and @tluck created our own modified VoodooPS2Controller kexts specifically for our Thinkpad guides. As of Apr 2018 I worked with Rehabman, Tluck...

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

I also upgraded Wednesday/Thursday this week. I had quite a bit of trouble because I installed Mojave from USB over my High Sierra installation (which upgraded perfectly, and I'm on APFS now) but that also left a lot of kexts in /L/E and /S/L/E that were meant for High Sierra (such as...

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

I'm sorry but I do not have a gen 2 in my possession, and creating a guide like this requires an insane amount of time. I think a large portion of the guide will work for you though... including a chunk of the dsdt patches. (Most are standard patches and very few are X1C specific.) A few...

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

Following up to the following: I installed the DW1560 (again) and tried about a dozen of drivers ranging from those provided in Windows 10 by automatic searching/install, dells website, and other locations -- I am convinced that there is nothing that I could do to make the card work on...

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

The Intel wireless cards will never work on Hackintoshes, you must order a Broadcom card. I ordered 2 Dw1560s and they worked fantastically on Mac but never worked on Windows (I tried dozens of drivers including the one Win10 installs by default). The DW1830 works well on Windows and Mac for...

[Guide] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3, 2015 Model) using Clover UEFI

Overview Welcome to my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 3) detailed guide, this guide is based on macOS High Sierra. A significant portion of this guide including content, layout, and supporting files, kexts, ssdt patches, and more have been stolen from @Sniki so I want to give credit to him...

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

There are special SSDT edits that need to be made.. but they're the exact same as what was required in tlucks so you should already be good. (Or just follow this guide and look at Snikis SSDT-KBD.dsl when you get to that point) Nothing challenging or tricky :)

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

Yes I did install the alc_fix included in the op of this thread. @CoBrA2168: More importantly I'm saving myself from this headache 2-3 years down the line with my next Thinkpad :P

That'd be great, thanks Sniki. I hate to go start another project unless I have to. At this point my X1 is working fantastically except when using headphones - the audio eventually turns into complete static. Did you ever experience that? Good luck on your V330!

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

@CoBrA2168 and @Sniki: Rehabman did accept my pull request! His latest build (and all future builds) contain the needed code for our machines to work with his official kexts. This should require no changes to your guide or SSDTs. Downloads here...

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

As far as sensitivity and smoothness goes it should be identical to tlucks, those values in the info.plist I just copied and pasted. The changes I'm proposing won't have a negative effect on users with other laptop brands/models whereas tLucks modifications might have. Because of that I don't...

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

Okay I think I've done about all the damage I can do. I believe I have taken the minimum amount of code from tlucks repo required to make Rehabmans kext support Thinkpads. I am opening up a pull request now, but I'd love if you all (@CoBrA2168 @Sniki) could give this kext a try and let me know...

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

I do have a Thinkpad with the three physical buttons. I will implement that code in such a way that it only runs on our devices and those buttons work. Stay tuned :)

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

It sounds like the other features can just be stolen from Syscl's fork. I am going to look more closely into why passthru needs to be forced (is not being detected) and maybe merging the trackpoint code from tlucks repo into rehabmans as cleanly as possible.

    [Guide] Lenovo ThinkPad T440S

I don't think Github will allow me to fork multiple repos that are both based on Rehabman's. Instead of the (preferred) pull requests I posted my solution (simply add 2 lines of code) in the following Github issue. I simply wanted to verify my fix before doing so :)...
