Radeon RX 4XX/5XX standalone system, AMDRadeonX4250.kext (GVA support H264) does not support HEVC HW

@familygw, I am looking to switch over to Open Core as well. How are your USB ports mapped? I did not see the AML fiile or a USB kext in your EFI folder.

Vega 64 only allows max resolution of 1080p

I was having similar issues when I plugged in a 43" 4K TV. The system was only running at 30Hz. I used SwitchResX to select the 2560x1440 @60Hz resolution and it worked.

    Netflix - System not responding

I am using iMacPro1,1 profile. I was able to overcome the freeze issue by trying other SMBIOS like iMac18,1, iMac18,3, etc. But I wanted to completely fix the issue so I just upgraded the card and now DRM is working perfectly.

    Netflix - System not responding

Issue was resolved by upgrading to a Vega 64 card. There's something with the RX4XX/5XX cards in Catalina that's causing this issue.

Post your EFI folder and in the meantime, try out the EFI folder @pastrychef has in his thread. Have you considered upgrading to the newer OS?

i had this issue when hardware encoding/decoding was not functioning correctly. Which SMBIOS are you using? in the VideoProc app, does it show support for HVEC and H.264?

Radeon RX 4XX/5XX standalone system, AMDRadeonX4250.kext (GVA support H264) does not support HEVC HW

Give this EFI folder a try. Back up your current one so you can restore it if this one does not work. You should be able to disable IGPU in BIOS. Once you have it disabled, WhateverGreen will do the rest in terms of renaming your discreet GPU to the correct name in Mac (eg, GFX0).

    Vega 56 or 64

Interesting. My local computer store has the 5700 XT for $499. It's a tough decision.

    Vega 56 or 64

I had never heard of that card. Would that card be better than Vega cards? The price point is important as well. Right now I'm getting a Vega 56 for $350 and 64 for $400.

    Vega 56 or 64

I am looking to upgrade my video card to a Vega one. Which one would you guys recommend I get? It will be a used MSI branded one and the price difference between the two is only $50. Is it worth spending extra $50 and get the 64 version one?
