Universal Audio Apollo Twin Thunderbolt on Hackintosh

As you will see for my signature, I'm using a Z77X-UP5 TH mobo. Thunderbolt on this mobo just works without any special procedures. The other guy posting in this thread is using the same mobo as me hence he isn't having any issues either. I do understand that the newer Z87 based mobo's that...

Universal Audio Apollo Twin Thunderbolt on Hackintosh

I haven't tried, but I'm 100% sure it won't work as there aren't Windows drivers available for it.

Universal Audio Apollo Twin Thunderbolt on Hackintosh

Although officially unsupported, I have just successfully run my Apollo Twin Duo with a UAD Solo/laptop card at the same time.

Universal Audio Apollo Twin Thunderbolt on Hackintosh

I've had an Apollo Twin Duo for the last few days and it is working well. I do think that the console app is a bit rubbish due to its limited routing, but I am comparing it to RME's totalmixFX.

Any Lynx PCI Card Success Stories?

Well, I just installed a Lynx L22 PCI Card in my Magma PCIe>PCI expansion chassis that is hooked up to my studio hack (running 10.8.4) and it's running perfectly! It sounds pretty darn good to! i also installed the Lynx LS-ADAT expansion card which I'm yet to test. So, I now qualify the Lynx...

Any Lynx PCI Card Success Stories?

Has anyone had success with any of the PCI family of Lynx cards? From my research it would indicate that they should work as there isn't anything to suggest they won't. There is a common OSX driver for all of there PCI/PCIe cards, it's 64 bit and 10.9 compatible. I want to add another...

Motherboard with PCI or Magma ?

From first hand experience I would advise you be VERY careful with your selection of components here. If you want to use PCIx HD cards directly in the mobo you need to make sure the mobo you choose has a chipset with native PCI support, Almost all current monos don't! This means you will be...

    Ultra-High-End Audio Interface (except PTHD)

I use a couple of Apogee Trak 2's in my room connected too Pro Toos HD cards, they are lovely sounding. If I was going to drop some cash at the moment I would be looking at the Lynx Hilo (only 2 channels of AD but has ADAT) or the Antelope Orion. The Orion offers many more channels but the...

    Pro Tools HD Hackintosh

See my signature for my PTHD build, it does exactly what you require. Its pretty much silent, I have to put my ear right against the case to be able to hear the CPU fan (the only fan in the build). The PSU fan only runs under heavy load, as my build uses the integrated graphics on the CPU the...

Pro Tools 11 is now available to download

The first installer seemed to be corrupt, it was only 790MB. I've gone back to download it again and it's now 867MB. The plugins are also now a separate download.

Can you give exact details of your system spec.... Mobo, CPU, GPU, any other hardware. what version of PT10 are you trying to install? Are you using a fresh install of OSX? It everything else working ie Ethernet, Onboard Audio? I have PT10HD running flawlessly on 10.8.3 and it was a very easy...

    UAD-1 and Powercore

The UAD-1 card won't work with mountain lion as there aren't 64 bit drivers available for it. So you should just give up trying to get it to work..... Unfortunately it won't work on any Mac OS after 10.6.8. The Powercore should work though. You should try the newest driver, which is 4.4.0.46...

Opinions on firewire vs USB audio interfaces

M-Audio is now owned by inMusic http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/avid-sells-m-audio-551367 I would steer well clear of any M-Audio interface for the time being as inMusic don't have the development team to support driver updates of a lot of their older (non-class complient) products. This...

Opinions on firewire vs USB audio interfaces

Firewire 400 has a data rate of 400Mbits/second where as USB2 has a data rate of 480Mbits/second so in theory USB2 will allow more channels, in practice FireWire has a slight advantage. A very good example that allows you to compare apples with apples is the RME UFX which has both USB and...

Opinions on firewire vs USB audio interfaces

I've been around the block.. and right now if I was going to part with my money for an interface it would be USB, if you have the budget I would suggest the RME Babyface. I've been a supporter of FireWire for a long time, but it's on the way out now. USB will still be about in 5 years...
