Lenovo x220 ThinkPad (i5-2520) with FileVault

There is a well known guide to Hackintoshing and installing High Sierra on the x220 by McDonnellTech. The only problem is that it doesn't allow for FileVault encryption of the hard disk. And for many encryption is a must. The problem is revealed after following the guide and then encrypting...

[Solved] Quicktime crashes when trying to Screen Recorder

Turns out I had those settings already checked. So no good for me. And there seem to be very few other threads discussing the topic. How depressing.

Fans work but displays don't after sleep... help!

So it was 2 things. One of my monitors is dead I think. The LED still comes on, but I've tried swapping all monitors and ports and cables, and it looks like it's just the one monitor. I had at some point activated NVideaWeb (i think its called that) under parameters in Clover Configurator...

Fans work but displays don't after sleep... help!

I had just gotten Sierra working. I went to bed and left the machine to sleep. Woke up this morning to wake my Hack, and it wouldn't wake. The fans came on, but the displays wouldn't. So instead of moving the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard I tried tapping (not holding) the power button...

Sierra has been almost effortless and a dream to set up to previous upgrades on my rig. The only problem was getting hold of a copy of Sierra as it seems Apple have completely removed it from the App Store. In this guide, I first install El Capitan onto a new SSD. This is because I hadn't...

If Apple removed Sierra from the App Store, what do?

I would have had to have downloaded it at some point in the past for it to show there. But even if I had, it won't be there. At least that is what all the news articles are saying. For example, from the blog post I linked: "Now that macOS High Sierra has launched, its predecessor, Sierra, is...

El Capitan to High Sierra direct via Clover

As Apple has killed Sierra (10.12) from the App Store before I got round to downloading it, I'm looking at going from El Capitan straight to High Sierra. I've followed these guides which are fairly similar (El Capitan to Sierra direct via Clover, Sierra to High Sierra direct via Clover) to see...

If Apple removed Sierra from the App Store, what do?

Direct Update to macOS Sierra using Clover

The App Store isn't showing Sierra for me, so can't download. The direct link (https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/macos-sierra/id1127487414?mt=12) gives me an error stating: "Item Not Available The item you've requested is not currently available in the UK Store." What do?

Clover / Nvidia Web Drivers installed but wrong resolution and second screen still dead

Hi MoosinUK, our systems are very different. But it might be a matter of chosing a MacMini or iMac 13,2 in the config.plist. I think you want to find the nearest equivalent to your actual hardware. You can find a list of the chips used by real macs on geekbench's site. I ended up doing a fresh...

So I've been running the system for a week or 2 and it basically it works. However there are a couple of issues. 1. The resolution at BIOS and bootloader doesn't fill the screen. Minor issue. This might be that my screens are just a resolution which is problematic (1900x1080). i think i read...
