[Guide] Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB (4K/i7-8550u) 99% working, updated 7 Feb

I wouldn't think so. The only reason I went for the OsxAptio+Emu solution was that Ubuntu wouldn't boot. Some sort of super extra blazing fast and unusable Samsung. PM961, I think. And yes, it's the same card, but first check out the feedback of the seller just in case. Apparently sometimes...

    UHD 620 can't fully drive

From what I've read 920 and C930 are indeed almost identical when it comes to internals, C930 is redesigned, but that's about it.

    UHD 620 can't fully drive

If you look at my Yoga C930 thread – I think 920 is almost the same thing – there's a mostly working fix for sleep.

[Guide] Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB (4K/i7-8550u) 99% working, updated 7 Feb

Hi, sorry, the forum didn't send me notifications about those posts. Wifi didn't need any whitelisting (this BIOS is super basic, I'd have to hack into it and reflash, I'm not that brave). Just replaced it, added the Brcm* kexts, works. The OsxAptio – I believe (IIRC) the key was adding...

[Guide] Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB (4K/i7-8550u) 99% working, updated 7 Feb

Sure. Bear in mind, though, that my setup is for three OSes (I removed Microsoft and Ubuntu folders), and you can't reuse my DSDT. APPLE > EXTENSIONS > firmware.scap is 15 MB – no clue why that is, but I'm not going to delete it to see what happens, even though (actual Apple) forums mention it...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

Welp, within 8.5 hours it lost 20% of the battery. The power button LED never started to blink, the fans took a WHILE to stop working. But this is good enough for me. I can shut it safely, it will fall asleep, sure I'd prefer 1% rather than 20% battery power loss. Woke up at first press of the...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

This HS port was "IOUSBDevice" or something similar. It was the fingerprint reader. Cut it out from my SSDT USB file and now I'm just hunting the other reasons that prevent sleep – there are some weird processes running. At least now I can look at Apple communities, not just Hack ones. And even...

Progress! https://pikeralpha.wordpress.com/2017/01/12/debugging-sleep-issues/ My IOReg doesn't display the first value, PMStatusCode at all. After an hour or so of googling I found out that's really "cosmetic" and what matters is the other two, the second of which will appear in IOReg after a...

[Guide] Lenovo Yoga C930-13IKB (4K/i7-8550u) 99% working, updated 7 Feb

Spoiler: I love it. For some reason it feels much more...don't know...friendly to the touch than Macbook Pro 2018. Somehow with the MBP I constantly feared breaking it (this might be because out of five I tried none lasted longer than two weeks before the keys began to malfunction). This laptop...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

OK – I can't figure out the sleep problem :( As above, I re-extracted DSDT/SSDT files, re-patched the DSDT, power management and USB are configured (correctly – I hope!). As far as I can see the laptop doesn't actually get to sleep at all. It does the pre-sleep...whatever it is that it does...

Latest status: Sound After the BIOS update subwoofer just works. It just doesn't subwoof as well as with Dolby Atmos. I added Boom 3D again and it sounds really good. Internal microphone doesn't work because of the BIOS limitations based on all I'd read on Linux forums. There is a workaround...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

Welp. As I was working on codec dump etc. in Ubuntu, I started looking for what to do with the codec dump and found out that Yoga C930 doesn't have correct BIOS support for sound and sleep yet for non-Windows systems. Apparently it's coming. Now I'm about to install Windows to another partition...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

*sigh* I spent all day trying to get something to work and my only achievement is the discovery that layout-id 3 works a bit better with AppleALC since it doesn't create non-existent line-in microphone. I also found out that this codec, ALC298, with device 10ec:0298 may actually be ALC3266...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

No change :( So the USB-C ports are: HS06 set to 0, paired with SS01 set to 9 HS03 set to 0, paired with SS02 set to 9 SS01 and SS02 do not change with orientation, addresses on USB 3.0/3.1 are SS01@00300000 and SS02@00400000 SS01 is also used for USB-A port with 3.0/3.1 devices, but with...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

No changes in either USB-C, remains SS02 or SS03. So 9 is correct. Again, as long as something is connected to USB-C at boot, the other one is hotpluggable. Once I remove the first device and keep the second, the first USB-C is still hotpluggable. Once I remove both and try again, no luck –...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

Oops. This seems to be related to Boom 3D. Will disable and try in a moment. This is something I couldn't understand from RehabMan's examples, because none of them covered my situation: USB-C function as USB 2.0 with the HH06 and HH03 values and then as USB 3.1 with added SS01 and SS02 (in...

Magic! They worked. So now I have all the kexts in /L/E and FakeSMC, Voodoo*, USBInjectAll in /kexts/Other. Thanks! I've never even heard of this problem before, not to mention knowing there were patches for it. Unfortunately still no USB 3.1 hotplug, no microphone, and no wake :( New files...

    Solved > Lenovo Yoga c930-13IKB

Out of sheer curiosity, I am checking what exactly is happening when I put FakeSMC and Voodoo* kexts in /L/E. I also removed CodecCommander and it made no difference to my sound or anything else. Don't know if it's interesting, putting it in a spoiler, but there are a few differences depending...

Of course. If I didn't know how to install kexts I wouldn't get anywhere near working keyboard (or anything else) :) Kextcache's output keeps an eye on me. I have to go to sleep – hopefully I will wake up easier than the Hacbook – thanks and looking forward to finding out what super-n00b...
