Internal screen drops down to 25 or 30Hz when laptop is connected to an external monitor - "Extend Displays" mode.
I don't know if this is a standard issue or not. Admittedly, I rarely attach a third screen to my laptop. I usually reside on Sidecar for a secondary screen.
I just updated to 10.15.4 the other day and my DW1560 has not been acting nice since. I am currently injecting fakeID via Clover to get Wifi to work. I get the full 5GHz, 80Mhz channel full speed wifi.
Bluetooth is working - I am using my bluetooth mouse, but it sadly ends there...
I am looking for a way to declare my bluetooth built-in so the appropriate firmware would upload, as it is currently broken.
I understand the idea of making a custom USB SSDT, however, I went through a couple of guides and nowhere does it say how to declare it as "built-in"? I managed to...
I've just finished my macOS install on my HP laptop and I thought I'd share config files, experience and a couple of tips - especially since these series of laptops do not seem to be as popular.
Intel Core i5-8250U
8GB DDR4 @ 2666MHz. (Single channel)
14" IPS display...
I've got a new(ish) laptop lying around and decided to give Mojave a go. The machine is:
HP Pavilion 14-ce0501na. It sports a 14" FHD IPS display, a Core i5-8250U CPU and 8GB of RAM.
Also, the BIOS does not whitelist WiFi chips, evident by the fact I've stuck an Atheros WiFi chip in...
I've tried installing on my old Acer laptop in the past, but never wanted to give up my discrete graphics, so never stuck with macOS on it before.
My new laptop has no discrete graphics, so I thought macOS could be an option. However, I'm sort of stuck with my research on hardware.
Can I stick this into my PC motherboard (Z-170 Chipset) and have it work?
I just did a fresh install of High Sierra 10.13.1 on a SSD with HFS+J FS.
I tried installing Emulated VRAM, NVidia Fixup and NVidia boot flag to get graphics running with MultiBeast.
However, I get the "Installation Failed" error message after going through the whole progress.
I have found myself in need of a RAID array and my macOS install is suffering as a result.
Let's just make this clear: I don't want to boot off of a RAID. I need one for storage.
In an ideal world I would have a RAID that all 3 of my OSes will read. (macOS, Windows, Ubuntu).
I have switched...
I have a perfectly working installation of Sierra and a rather shady installation of High Sierra on two separate drives.
I recently came in need of a RAID array for redundancy, so I bit the bullet, bought the drives, set the RAID in BIOS, fixed my Windows installation and am now...
Updated to HS today, got NVidia to work with SIP from Clover and then I accidentally installed AGDPFix without thinking.
Now the system won't boot. I copied the AppleGraphicsControl.kext back but it looks like the app does something else as well?
How can I revert the changes it has...
Just updated to High Sierra minutes ago. I did the direct update through the terminal command option to retain HFS+
Installation went fine, I get to the desktop - with no acceleration and a 7MB display adapter. I have clicked the "Use NVidia drivers" in the clover boot options - so...

"The zephyrys does not use Optimus technology to switch to integrated graphics, so the battery.... " blah blah.
Point is - does that mean the graphics (1080) could be made to work? Has anyone tried a laptop with a similar configuration/optimus disabled? I'm VERY curious!
I recently got myself a shiny new 27" screen. It's fabulous in every way, except for one - there is no DVI port on it.
Right now the setup I have is:
1 screen connected via DVI @ 1920x1080
1 screen connected via HDMI @ 1920x1080
1 screen connected via DP @ 2560x1440
I really want to...
I just changed my system definition from iMac17,1 to iMac17,1 - to fix iMessage.
As you may have noticed - I have not changed the type of hardware, yet my GTX 1070 stopped outputting graphics if I don't run with "nv_disable=1". It used to output through all DP, HDMI and DVI - and now...
I am dual booting off of two identical SSDs 10.12.4 and W10.
I do, however, have one more HDD so now when I boot into Clover I get:
1 boot entry for macOS
1 boot entry for Windows
1 boot entry for Windows' EFI partition
1 boot entry for a non-sytem NTFS partition on the HDD
The attached is fresh from today. All I have done is change monitors. Got me a new flashy 2560x1440 screen. Putting back the old one does not seem to have any effect - the error stays the same.
I do use ONE (not the system) of my HFS partitions under windows too for shared storage...
Back in the dark era when Pascal was not supported I benched my macOS installation and I have now decided to put it back to a good use.
However, a few changes have been introduced to my system since:
A Pascal GTX 1070
A new BIOS that supports Kaby Lake CPUs (a new CPU will follow as...
I have been unable to browse the site on my mobile phone for a few days now. I tried on Safari, Mozila and Chrome to no avail. As soon as the page loads up I am getting redirected to a http://s09.sevmob.com/random-numbers-and-letters webpage, which then takes me out of the browser and...
