Edit: try different USB port, I had some kind of problem (USB related) with the initial install. its gone now but I remember It had to something with 'waiting for DSMOS' thing

i think when i wrote the guide originally for Sierra 10.12 "config.plist/ACPI/SSDT/Generate/PluginType=true" wasn't there, or may be i didn't pay attention.
anyway form what i think both methods should work fine, i'll look into into it myself when i get some time.

i used Probook Installer by @nguyenmac with 10.11 OS X El Capitan
most of the installation process should be same but you will need DSDT patches for 8470p, and some Kexts

if headphones are connected before sleep jack sense works fine after wake.

so still using RTL8723BE (that doesn't work in macOS). for macOS i am using USB WiFi(Ralink) module.
it is not that much difficult but you need to be careful. Because it's all plastic body, so don't use to much...
