Thanks for sharing, will give a whirl....
I've raised voltages a bit in my PPT ... seems to occur less frequently now, once every 2 - 3 days instead of more than once per day but who knows... it's quite random.
I have the same problem (Sapphire RX Vega 64), the kernel driver just seems to stop being able to address the device, everything else continues to work fine (audio, SSH in etc):
FATAL ERROR : ATIController failed to access PCI device [3:0:0]!
--> [3:0:0] !!! Failed to read register 0x130...
To the admin who deleted my post sharing that I experienced kernel panics: I wasn't asking for help, I was reporting that I ran into problems, nothing more. This might be of interest to others thinking about running this update.
UPDATE: resolved by upgrading clover from 4586 to 4784 and...
What do you mean by acceleration?
With only Lilu & Whatevergreen, no additional configuration in Clover config.plist it seems to be working well:
HEVC 4k playback:
BruceX gives me 24 seconds, as before.
just curious if any of this necessary if you only need the IGPU in headless mode (for h264/h265 encoding/decoding) but have a discrete GPU (ala AMD) for display purposes?
leaving out ig-platform-id etc from the clover configuration, just letting mojave detect the IGPU seems to work just fine.
I've installed BrcmPatchRAM2.kext and BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext in /L/E ... problem reporting info coming soon.
Curious that it appears to load the kext twice? And nope, it's not installed in two locations ;) Unless my cache is screwed...
Shows up in System Information with the correct firmware...
Does anyone have a bluetooth adapter (PCIe or USB) that works fine with a Bluetooth headset?
I've tried all of the USB recommended ones including: GMYLE, IOGear GBU521, Asus BT400. They all show up in System information and the GMYLE actually allows me to connect to my iPhone but no luck at...
I have lots of problems with my P2715Q at the office with my MbP 2016 Touchbar, when getting back to my desk and reconnecting. I know it's also partially related to Thunderbolt 3/USB-C - the worst connector in the history of mankind. Pretty much never works with the lefthand USB-C connectors...
Sigh, so frustrating!
I use this model: PowerColor RED DEVIL Golden Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 AXRX 580 8GBD5-3DHG/OC 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support ATX Video Card
so far it's been good, even after upgrading to 10.13.3 - I did notice initially...
It's unfortunate that two issues are getting conflated in this thread, this thread has been for many pages for users experiencing stuttering UIs every since the first version of High Sierra.
This is independent of the (worse?) lag that was introduced with the latest nvidia web drivers (.156+)...
yes! super simple, lilu + whatevergreen, the only minor issue I had is my second monitor didn't come on but I just moved it to the third DP port (ie, using DP ports 1 & 3) and all is well, dual 4k60. Everything is very smooth, no stuttering whatsoever!
If you read this whole topic you'll see that some of us had some stuttering UIs ever since upgrading to the High Sierra, irrespective of subversion or Nvidia web driver version, not just this latest version.
Switching to AMD fixes the stuttering completely.
that's an excellent price for current conditions. I just received one yesterday that I paid $439 for - which is still a lot lower than most places ($550+ !!)
does work very well OOTB with just lilu & whatevergreen, dual 4k60 monitors connected via DP. buttery smooth UI ... unlike my GTX 1070 TI :(
