    Asus X299 - Support

Well, I'm sure he posts other places (but not here), but DSM2 can also be found on the Insanely site. He posts there once in a while.

    Asus X299 - Support

So, you've hit a snag that I think is fairly common with Asus motherboards and some Sapphire graphics cards. The Sapphires, for some of them (and not all of them, just some), don't seem to initialize the way the Asus motherboard wants them to. Then you get the 8 beep salute and no display. If...

    Asus X299 - Support

What you're looking at is called a blower card - it has one fan. I prefer non-blower cards from vendors like Sapphire, or Power Color. The most important thing if you're buying from e-Bay is to buy from a seller with lots of feedback and good ratings. No way for me to know how good this unit...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

I will say this: now that it's up and running, it seems fine. After the first login, subsequent logins have been normal. Of course, more time will tell better whether it's really stable or not - it is, after all, a beta. I believe that Apple did something with the audio, and my graphics...

    Asus X299 - Support

So, don't underestimate the RX 580, especially if you get a good one. I know of another Audio engineer on this board who used one with his Gigabyte X299 and he was happy with it. Don't know if he had a 4k monitor or not though. For Mojave a Vega 56/64 is a great choice and they work well...

    X299 - Open Core support

I don't use OC full time, but you could also try posting at the Insanely site, there is a OC thread there that's pretty active.......

    Asus X299 - Support

Well, not sure. I've had AMD graphics card for quite a while now, even with High Sierra, and I didn't hit any issues like that. So could it be your GTX 1060? Maybe, I just don't know. Your BIOS graphics needs are very basic, it doesn't need any special configuration, not usually. What if...

    Asus X299 - Support

Okay, but a while back I had a Prime Deluxe I, and I never had this happen to me. I experimented turning 4g encoding on and off for a while to see which worked best for me. Having it on really worked best, but it never blocked me from entering the bios. Sure, turning it off meant it wouldn't...

    Asus X299 - Support

Well, maybe that's the only way for your motherboard, but I would caution you that turning off 4g encoding should not block you from entering the bios....that should not happen. You may have a hardware issue.....

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

So, new beta of 10.15.3 is out; 10.15.3 Beta (19D62e) - I'm testing it, and my upgrade was far from perfect. For the first time in a long time, I had some trouble. I had a KP during the upgrade process, and it stopped dead, forcing a hard reset. It also clearly didn't like my SwitchResX...

    Asus X299 - Support

I don't have those motherboards, but one thing you could try is to enable 4g encoding in the bios, and if that doesn't work, disable it and boot to see one or the other works. I'm guessing, as I don't have either of those motherboards, that a bios setting might be your issue. And, you are on...

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

So, if you are trying to boot from a USB drive to install Catalina, you need to install Clover there, and put a fully finished EFI there. Make sure you use a Clover version that works with Catalina (509x, 5101, etc). Then once Catalina is installed, transfer that EFI to your new boot drive. A...

    X299 - Open Core support

Sleep seems fine. Most everything works - I haven't done a complete check of every function on the board, but most everything I use seems to work.

    X299 - Open Core support

I have no idea as to what is different between the two. How would I? I only have the Sage. You'll have to check with some others or call Asus....and no, I don't post my EFI anymore.

    Asus X299 - Support

You did go through the new TB utility and approve your Caldigit dock, with full permissions, right? If you did, then I hope the new USB card works for you.....

    Asus X299 - Support

So, there is a new driver and maybe new firmware for the Titan Ridge on Gigabyte's site. The driver is dated December 2019 (probably to support newer versions of Windows 10) and the firmware is dated October 2019. According to Gigabyte, they want you to install the driver first, then the...

    X299 - Open Core support

To get that to work, you may have to "bless" the drive you want to default boot from. Check the documentation - you may have to hard code it in your config.plist. You shouldn't have to, but OpenCore is still in beta and is still under development....so some features work better than others.....

    Asus X299 - Catalina Support

On my old X299 Prime Deluxe, I had mine in Slot 5, and I had to re-do the AML for it. Then I moved it, and again I re-did the AML again. So you can move it around, but to get the best out of it, your TB AML should be adapted to the slot it's placed in. It might work without the AML correctly...

    Asus X299 - Support

Sorry, don't know anything about that dock. You might want to double check your USB port mapping....but not sure....again, don't know that dock.

    Asus X299 - Support

Well, happy to hear you got some of it sorted......Hope it doesn't take you long to figure out this current problem, but I think you'll get it figured out......does the Caldigit require drivers for Windows? Well, anyway, good luck!
