How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

You can try looking in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ Read the Kernel*.panic file dated at the time of your crash. It might help you diagnose where the crash came from...or it might not...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I was feeling lucky, I hadn't had one for awhile. I haven't been using Premiere to heavily lately (I export from a different machine). Then tonight, I had just finished using Premiere and was watching a YouTube video in Sarari and it locked up. The irony was that I had just thought...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I went back and forth for awhile with monitors. I ended up deciding on 3 Benq p3200u 4k monitors. After figuring out the proper angles they fit on my desk no problem. I like the setup a lot for my workspace. It is nice to have them setup so that they are all 90 degrees to my view from where...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Yes, I've been getting a lock up during PP export for awhile now. A lock up use to be hit or miss, but with recent updates either in macos or from the guide a lock up is almost instant when using Metal or OpenCL. I can usually get a little further with software encoding, but its still...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to test this for you yet! I've been too busy with work, and luckily my system has been stable up until today when I tried to check in on this thread and then it locked up. With all three monitors hooked up I tried encoding with AME. Using OpenCL it locks instantly...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Thanks for the link regarding Premiere issues! I've been using a Windows machine to encode. With a 8086k running Windows 10 it is able to encode faster than my hackintosh with a 7900x. I can only hope Adobe makes some progress on both stability and performance. I am using 3 Benq pd3200u monitors.

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I did use Metal on my last encode with Media Encoder. It worked fine other than Media Encoder hanging after it was finished encoding. A force quit took care of that. I do not have Shiki.kext installed. Are you asking because you think I ought to have it installed, or to make sure I don't...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

My system has been chugging along pretty well for the past 7 months. Lately I've been experiencing a lot more lock ups. In the past it was usually just when I was encoding a video with Adobe Media Encoder. But in the last 24 hours I've had 3 lock ups and I was doing nothing more than browsing...

I have a DeckLink 4K Extreme. It was working fine before I created my SSDT. I haven't had much time to play with it since, but it seems to be working fine now...just a quick couple of tests.

I have no idea why the kext clover patch didn't work for me. Maybe I screwed something up when I implemented it. I'll give it another shot after I get some sleep. Thanks again!

This did not work for me. I removed lilu and NvidiaGraphicsFixup and put this in place and rebooted and only came up with 2 displays.

I didn't like running at only 30 hertz when connected via HDMI. I thought I could put up with it...but nope.

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

To be able to use all 3 DisplayPorts on a Vega Frontier Edition I installed the NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext This allowed me to run triple 4k displays over DisplayPort. Previously I could only run 2 through DisplayPort and 1 through HDMI I got this from a user in another thread and thought some...

    Planning to use a Noctua NH-D15 cooler on a i9-7980xe -- Alternatives?

I've got one running on my i9-7900. So far its great. I haven't seen any high temperatures so far. Within the first week I had to travel with it. The size and weight of it made me a bit nervous for traveling, but I laid the case down on its side and it was fine. I wouldn't worry about it too...

Vega Frontier Edition on High Sierra

I've got my x299 build up and running with a Vega Frontier Edition and 3 4k displays. I have 2 displays connected via DisplayPort and 1 via hdmi. Is there any trick to getting all three display to work via DisplayPort? My problem with the one display on hdmi is that it runs at 30 hertz...
