I have the same issue. All of the USB devices attached to the display reset as well (forcing my USB DAC to full volume) whenever I disconnect and reconnect the cable, making it really annoying.
I’d just put it down to macOS’s ThunderBolt drivers not being fully loaded, and Apple doing some kind...
Thanks for the advice about reinstalling - perhaps when there's some benefit to switching SMBIOSes, I will.
I'm team OpenCore, so I edit everything by hand. Catalina seems to have introduced some interesting situations where things don't save to the EFI partition (I've seen Xcode do it a bunch...
Does anyone else have troubles with the following on their X299 builds?
Bluetooth input devices taking a long time to wake after sleep
USB audio devices being set to full volume, with the balance set over to the right on wake from sleep
I'm guessing number two there is due to the USB audio...
No, you absolutely do not. There was a significant amount of KGP's guide that involved patching device names for cosmetic reasons - ie, making your PC hardware look like an iMac Pro from an IOReg perspective - and it's simply not necessary.
macOS doesn't care if your CPUs appear as CP01 or as...
Doesn't even have to be private - it's interesting stuff, in a different context and you all seem like friendly people - but remember what happened to KGP's nutty, thousand-page thread… let's not do that again.
Thanks for degrading this thread into a discord chat, you lot
Can we please go back to discussing issues directly relating to ASUS X299 motherboard setups? I'm happy for you, but I really don't care about your internet speed, or your choice of mouse.
You understand that the T2 is essentially a separate ARM coprocessor, right?
I don't want to discourage you - by all means, it's your time - but do you have a plan for emulating a CPU of a different architecture to the one you're running?
Do you have a link to the original thread? I'd love to know more about what was changed in this BIOS. I've been having annoying issues where if I disable CSM, my rig won't boot stating "VGA Load BIOS" on the little OLED display on the motherboard. It only boots consistently if I enable CSM...
Possibly. I do have TB3 hot plug working, and it has always been pretty stable on X299 setups.
It's probably just because we still don't have proper, full TB3 working on any Hackintosh (and probably never will).
Mine often doesn't wake from sleep. I end up pulling the power cable and reconnecting it from my 5K Ultrafine multiple times each day. That fixes it until the machine goes to sleep again, but gosh I'd love to find a fix… or a "true" 5K display equivalent that doesn't require ThunderBolt 3 to work.
