the bios attached works perfectly on my rig
BUT maybe a new one exists
this one modified is stable ;)
so no problem at all
follow the way to patch it bec use sometimes it is pretty tricky to patch perfectly
(I did it with the button on the back)
thx a lot @metacollin
just show my results (it looks not incredible but as I am working 24/7 with rendering, it is always good to have more than less)
monocore: 14% more
multi: 3% more
also strangely I lost tiny bit in openCL/metal but I guess it is not related to it
PS you have written...
I wanted after a long discussion with @kgp
there is tons of interest to be on AMD GPU (and much more when you can OC the graphic card)
but unfortunately all my programs on Windows 10 use ONLY cuda
if I install an AMD I will not be able to use any of those programs: photogrammetry etc etc :(
new post with informations and a little question:
About XEON v4, BIOS and GeekBench scores:
As well described a 6950x or a 7980xe: needs to have in bios "Sync All Cores" activated, to increase the GB score
the xeon v4 family works differently!
After a fresh installation, I found that "sync all...
As I am installing again X.13.6
i had to read again from scratch all the manual ;)
but found some points that have some mistakes on writings
(it is not a criticism at all, as the manual is well done, and I truly consider the @kgp manual as the reference that I use to all my rigs, it is just a...
About CPU Microcode Update (B.1.1):
i understood that it is for solving OC problems,
but as having a Xeon (2696v4), I asked myself if the microcodes missing are exclusively linked to OC? (so nothing else)
I didnt find any informations about that sorry
or at the opposite a tiny difference can...
I am sorry but I am afraid that I cannot help at all
an ES is too tricky because the architecture is sometimes different:
ES cover: alpha, beta and Release candidates CPU
it means that if you are lucky it looks pretty the same than a standard one
if you are not lucky: it will be unstable and...
no of course the bootcamp cannot do it
you are playing with fire: the OC of a pascal is more tricky than a Maxwell
I advise you to do nothing and also you didnt read me well:
on hackintosh the OC will not be useful AT ALL
instead of you put free wattage but you dont have strong...
someone called me :p
1st of all EFI and bios are 2 different things
OK so Maxwell (980 Ti for example) and Pascal (1080) are totally different for BIOS
you cannot OC a pascal as a Maxwell, forget it
because the pascal works on a variable OC when Maxwell manages to have a max OC (frequency and...
can't wait to see your benchmark results ;)
I found that program developed for MAC are more efficient with METAL (so VEGA) than with a Nvidia ad much more now when PASCAL are not able to keep the OC like Maxwell
unfortunatelly from my side I work in dual boot and the...
oh sorry yes right,
I was focusing on Nvidia only
but concerning dual Vega, how works the dual, so far the GPGPU doesnt work like CUDA (Nvidia)
don't know how open CL can use it super well
also I am curious to know how is the benefits on metal or metal 2 (with FCPX or any programs pretty...
And it will not do
I had to deal with playing with HT on and off,
I posted many many messages here about that, as I didnt understand at all how HT and dual graphic cards could be linked
i had a workstation working on Sierra only, with full acceleration and dual titan X OC
on high Sierra it...
good luck if u can have dual Nvidia stable
i had 2 Maxwell titan X, and with high Sierra: impossible to do anything,
ONE perfect, dual not at all: I had many errors and never the same, so I changed my graphic card and done
high Sierra don"t like dual Nvidia at all
maybe it is possible but with...
was pretty the same deal when PASCAL came on the market
it took Lon long time to Nvidia to create drivers for PASCAL
I think Mojave brings tons of new things concerning metal and all related to graphic card (acceleration)
I guess it is the problem and it will not be solved soon :(
finally I will jump to RADEON VEGA 64 (and leave my 1080Ti)
As you recommended @kgp
1/ the problems of drivers (that if they are available are less optimized than with Maxwell or before)
2/ the fact that ALL programs under Mac OS are optimized for AMD
3/ the overclocking of Nvidia Pascal...
A modded bios cannot flash with the tool inside the bios (flashing by choosing the bios on a USB)
it needs to be done with the button on the back and mobo turned off
it will never accept a bios modded by the normal way
if someone read it and make a research, he will find it (I hope) ;)
