    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I tried to reproduce it to get a photo but can't it's worked perfectly every time since  It was like monochrome hatched boxes randomly on the screens. But like I say it's not done it again since posting.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Thanks, I'll have a look at the BIOS upgrade in advance and decide which to get. I'm not too worried about overclocking it really so it sounds like I'll be OK. The only thing I've noticed is an odd thing with the graphics being all messed up as the machine unlocks with my Apple Watch after...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Hello again. Thanks for posting the above open core file, I updated to 10.15.7 and my system was doing all sorts of weird things crashing when I've not had that before. Updated with your latest and everything seems stable again so far :) One question. Currently I'm using an i5 8600k in my build...

Pete's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) i5-8600K Build

I remembered I've not updated this thread since I built this machine. Following the original build, I didn't do much with the machine. However, on going to use it, I discovered it had auto-update to either Mojave or Catalina and was effectively dead in a set of boot loops. I've not updated...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

I know it sounds silly, but is there a factory reset option in your monitors menus? Not in OS X but the monitor menus themselves. I couldn’t get both my monitors working at the same time on my Vega 56 but I knew they should work, and swapping ports for the monitors had strange effects. By...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Oh I spoke too soon. Went to install my adobe apps and... My drive is formatted as APFS-Case sensitive and I didn't realise... So now I have to start all over again... grrrr

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Tried a HDMI cable on the second monitor and that worked ok ( all be it with a different colour look which I need to look into ) so I might try another DP cable over the weekend. It will be interesting to see how this machine performs with Davinci now I have a decent GFX card in it. It's nice...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

OK all sorted. I now have Catalina running, and logged into iCloud etc and all that appears to be good. I have one final thing I have notice. I just plugged my second monitor into another one of the DP outputs of my MSI Vega 52 ( the one you also have I believe ) and it looks like the OS...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

So OpenCore appears to have done the trick and I have Catalina installed now so thank you! However now I need to customise the SMBIOS so I can get it all working on iCloud etc. What do I need to edit in the plist file on opencore and what editor works well to be able to change it?

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

OK I simply copied your 0.5.5v opencore EFI over with no changes and tried again. It's now on the apple progress bar screen so its doing something more than with clover. Will see how it goes.

Yeah it's odd, really odd. Here's my current EFI.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Not on the reboot installer images, it doesn't seem to get far enough to start any output.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Yes I found something about that and Catalina so I've already put that in there. Still just gets stuck on a black screen with some pluses and stays there. No progress bar or anything. I'm wondering if it is something to do with going from High Sierra straight to 10.15.3

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

OK I've removed the motherboard connection now. I realised I didn't have the BIOS configured correctly for the output to come on the Vega output initially but working OK now on BIOS, etc. It's odd because I can boot fine into High Sierra. But, when the update happens, the reboot image starts...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

OK, this may not be specific to this Golden Build setup, but could I ask if you have Catalina working @pastrychef? I did indeed need to format the NVMe via Windows, and then I now have High Sierra running again. I'm using the latest rEFI you have here, and the Vega 56 is working fine. Now I...

Good idea. I’ll make a win10 usb and give it a try.

I bought a 970 EVO not the Plus. But not showing up in the list in Dsk Utility to format, but is showing in the BIOS :S

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Thanks I hadn't looked in the .plist yet. Just had my gfx card and NVMe delivered, only to realize I can't find all the cables for my RM650x power supply so don't have the PCIe power cables grrr. Looked everywhere and can't find that damn bag of cables. UPDATE: OK, I found the cable but I've...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Nice one. A couple of supplementary things. I downloaded your opencore 5.5 zip file and noticed when looking at https://khronokernel-2.gitbook.io/opencore-vanilla-desktop-guide/opencore-efi it talks about removing some files in drivers and tools directories but in your EFI zip they are still...
