hey guys,
still running this machine with macOS 10.13.6 and Clover on a GTX 1080 since like 4 years with 0 issues since I installed it!!!.
I might consider upgrading it soon and wanted to get some feedback.
Looking to keep the Gaming 7 and the 8700k but might want to switch to a Radeon GPU so I...
Not 100% sure about the PSU, but go for at least for a 80+ Gold version. You can always calculate your power supply here.
But be careful, I read that the 970 EVO PLUS can cause issues. Check this thread for more info.
Thunderbolt should work in this board.
Your go to resource for the proper implementation is this thread:
[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580
If you are looking at other 360mm AIO then checkout the NZXT Kraken X72 or the Corsair H150i PRO.
Concerning the...

Z390 is a bit different to Z370, but they have working onboard TB3 with the Z390 Designare!
@jiffyslot here you go
Note: I am still on 10.13.6. ;-)
I labelled the ports according to my Fractal Design R6 case. You can also find a visual overviews ,I made of the different ports here.
Hi jiffyslot,
Yes ,no issues so far. Sorry I am currently traveling and will share it once I am back home at the end of the week. (If you still need it?)
I would also advise you to maybe look into a bigger AiO with a 240/280 Radiator (like the H110i or H115i Pro). the H60 might be a little bit underpowered for the power hungry 9900K.
Is there (or will) be an option to change the fonts and font sizes?
With the new changes the font size is a little too big which makes it hard to quickly read thread topics and browse through the site on mobile phones and laptops. It looks a bit messy.
another thing to check is the Bios Version of the motherboard that it gets shipped with. As this is a z370 board it needs a newer Bios Version in order to work with the 9900k. So ask the retailer if it is already updated to support 9th gen CPUs or if they can update it for you, cause I am not...
Your RAM Module is not listed on the Motherboards Support List:

You can try overclocking it, but if you still can, switch them with 3200Mhz...
there is no "out of the box" support for Thunderbolt.
You will always have to tinker a bit with things and use a custom SSDT.
The Guide I linked, describes very detailed how to get everything up and running. So if you follow the guide ( he uses the some MOBO) you should get everything running.
You'll find a super detailed fully working build guide by @kgp here:

It probably got lost in all the discussion here, but a while ago @jb007 also posted the SSDT-UIAC.aml here and I added a visual overview of the USB Ports here. Rehabman's Guide is not very difficult if you follow it step by step. I know a lot of you are doing the new FB-Patcher Method but...
Mine runs perfectly with High Sierra 10.13.6. I have a custom SSDT for the USB Ports which I made using Rehabman’s Guide. Runs super stable and is very powerful.
Hackashaq’s Guide will give you fully working system.
If your Budget allows it I would go with the Gaming 7. VRMs are very good and...
I have a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming (not the Gaming X version)

For the R6 Fractal has the Connect D1 which adds the USB Type C port. You just have to switch out the Front Panel. No need to mess with the 5.25” bay.

If you go with the bigger coolers like the Nh-D15 check twice if they fit...
I watched a lot of YouTube video's on how to do it (der8auer & GamersNexus have some good ones on it). I used der8auers tool, sealed 3 pins with nail polish and the applied the Liquid Metal and reapplied some silicon. It's the first time I did it. The application of the Liquid Metal is a bit...
