Well, I'm on 13.4 B1, and I hope that Apple has not decided this is the cutoff point.
In many ways, it seems unreasonable that they would do this. I also have an OWC external Thunderbolt 10G adapter and I just can't think they would just end it. It's probably just flaky TB on my end...
@pastrychef
I have read elsewhere that as of 13.3, Apple has removed the drivers (and thereby, the support) for the AQC107. Other users have had a terrible time trying to get their cards to work. Have you, or anyone else know anything about this, true or just a bad rumor? I'm currently on...
Does anyone know if this is true? I have read this elsewhere and if that is true, a lot of AQC107 10G owners are going to be very unpleasantly surprised when they upgrade.
Well @pastrychef I have finally retired (permanently), my Z370-A. It was a good motherboard, but I have a Mac Studio coming, so I really don't need it as I have a Z490 for Beta work. Once the Mac Studio gets here, I may retire the Z490 as well. Time to move on.
I really don't post here much...
So, sorry to bother you, but I've got a problem. I tried to upgrade my BIOS on my Gigagyte Z490, and while Mac is fine, Windows 11 is stuck on "Getting Devices Ready". I'm just wondering if there is something with TPM that needs to updated and/or changed?
I went from F5 to F20, and for...
M1Max Macbook Pro 14" Battery Life:
So, I've now had a little over a week of working with my new M1Max Macbook Pro 14" and for every day, including some very busy days (one extremely busy day in particular), I never exceeded 70% total battery use. That means I never had to plug it in during...
More 2021 Macbook Pro M1x Pics: Keyboard
Here are two shots of the keyboard. There are two very important details that I don't see talked about much:
1. In shot 1, I think you can see that the keys are slightly concave. This means that your fingers always know the center of the keys. Its...
One more detail about M1 support by Adobe:
I attended Adobe's Max event, and one of the sessions was direct from the After Effects development team.
After Effects M1 support is available in the Beta only as of now. It cannot be had in the released version yet. I make a direct query to the AE...
M1Max disk test 14" - pretty darn great, from my point of view......it does vary after a number of tests (this one was about 10 passes in).
EDIT: I've gone through a number of laptops the past year, kind of desparate to replace my aging early 2013 Macbook Pro (it needs some help!), including a...
Well, I didn't say they are all going to fail. I said they have reason to worry, but only if Apple can deliver as well with desktops (which I think they can).....and if I were them (Intel et al), I would, at least, be very concerned (ie - worry).
If this (Apple silicon) stimulates changes in...
You could clearly lay this at the feet of Intel and their failures to address issues with their x86 processor architecture; heat, battery life, screens, graphics, you could go a long time identifying the issues with these laptops, not all of which is Intel caused (AMD and Nvidia has some part...
Wow. You are really stuck on this. Yes, there is a glitch. Its the time to do that versus booting a bootable disk. I already went through a scenario. What more do you want?
Clonezilla and maybe Acronis, and yes, for the most part (but not absolute) drive of equal or greater capacity. I use Clonezilla, boot from a USB and it works. Bought Acronis, but haven't tested it yet.
So, @CaseySJ, I think you'll like this analysis and recommendation:
if Apple continue to push this as hard as they are (no bootable backups), and you need a great spare/backup Mac, well then this is a great argument for a Hackintosh spare! It's obviously cheaper, easier to upgrade, alter in...
This was all done on a "real" mac, not a hack.
But you are right that hacks need that bootable backup, at least that's my opinion. However, for now, for hacks, the good news is that they are typically Intel based (maybe AMD too) and are in a case that you can open.
So, on my two hacks (which...
Well, I really, really do wish that people would stop repeating that you must use the legacy approach with CCC. I have been using CCC for well over 10 years. I know how to use it, and how to use the "legacy" approach. I'm just saying its not reliable, and is not going to be around much...
Well, I just use Clonezilla now. As long as I have access, or some way to connect a drive and boot clonezilla, I can clone a bootable drive just fine. There's even a gui version of Clonezilla called rescuezilla available.
I just don't use Carbon Copy Cloner anymore. I've tried the legacy...
