Actually I have one thing to add that I didn't notice at first.
You need to add ACPIBatteryManager (available here https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-acpi-battery-driver/downloads/ - just get the latest, it still works even tho its from 2018) to get the menubar battery widget to work.

Just wanted to say I used your guide to upgrade from Mojave to Catalina and it went pretty smoothly!
I am using the Dell DW1830 instead of the DW1560 and wifi/bluetooth is working fine. All the stuff that was broken before is still broken (sd card, optimus, etc) so that's no surprise.
Thanks...
@blazinsmokey I finally took the plunge and installed Mojave- this build is working great save for one thing which is actually pretty annoying... I get a LOT of double clicks. It doesn't matter whether I'm using the trackpad or a USB mouse. Any ideas?
@blazinsmokey would it be possible for you to update the original post with any additional/updated info? For example, the keyboard issue... is it indeed solved by installing the kext into /L/E? Things like that
I would just replace the SSD, since it's not soldered in. Any tinkering you do to fix the 4k vs 512b issue via software is going to be far more easily solved by having the correct hardware. Not to mention your potential future upgrade paths.
Same issue as replacing the wifi. If duet is so...
I recently had some moderate issues with the 10.12.6 2018-004 security update. I had to remove/reinstall all my kexts in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other.
I got everything except audio back afterwards. BT Audio works fine, but that's not a proper fix.
Now, after doing a little research, I don't know...
OK, I've got it working again. I ended up "starting over" and deleting all kexts in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other and starting one by one getting the latest versions of everything.
Now, however, I don't have audio. I'll open another topic for that.
I'm using a Dell XPS 9560 with a Dell U3813DW on 10.12.6. Stupidly, I updated 2018-004 without first updating kexts. Well, that initially caused a kernel panic on boot. Fine, so I started updating kexts via ssh with the system booted via -liluoff. I got it to boot eventually, but now if I leave...
Yes, the moral of the story is, I won't be running updates without first updating Clover, kexts, etc. The issue is resolved. Thank you again for the help.
Sorry, it's a 4k display. I followed a guide specific to the Dell XPS 15 9560 (2017 model) with 4k, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd.
As I stated, it was totally my error with updating the kexts- some of them weren't actually updated... I had replaced them with zero-byte folders (I forgot the -r flag when...
The data in #3 came from the gen_debug script. I ran everything from an SSH prompt. I removed the Nvidia stuff- it was superfluous as you pointed out. My laptop has nvidia gpu but it's optimus so macos can't use it.
I am so sorry for wasting your time - you said my EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other was a mess and you were right. I had not zipped half of them properly prior to copying them, so many of the essential ones (Lilu included) were zero bytes.
I was just able to boot normally after fixing all the zero-byte...
I can't get to a desktop UI.
1. IORegistryExplorer.app won't run without the GUI, apparently (I tried gen_debug after copying IORegistryExplorer.app to /Applications/ and it still failed at IOReg dump).
2. How do I update Clover from the command line?
Output of sudo kextcache -i /...
