My XPS runs BIOS 1.12.1 and Mojave with Clover
I remember I was able to run Catalina with Clover update with no issues, and even Big Sur, at least when it's already installed (had to plug ssd into MacBook to install it, back when it was just released)
At the moment, when I try to downloaded EFI...
Ok, this isn't really working. My USBC dock with USB 3.0 HUB works as USB 2.0 HUB when plugged to XPS (works fine with Macbook), and suddenly gigabit ethernet isn't really a gigabit.
But i went further and found a way to hotplug TB3 dock.
Unlike USBC dock, when using IOElectrify and SSDT-TB3...
Probably, but when you use a dock with power delivery, you don't care that much about battery life.
It's just CLOVER 3.4 with IOElectrify and unrelated black screen on wake/dp replug fix (tested without black screen fix and instant replug also worked)
I wonder why it's not on Readme. I was sure hot replug doesn't work for me, until i red this.
I wonder why IOElectrify kext has just one mention on this thread.
I found this mention of people using IOElectrify to enable TB3 hotplug on XPS 9570
Couldn't get TB3 working with IOElectrify on 9560...
That's not a bug, that's a feature. Your system with already authorized accounts is not supposed to magically teleport to another serial number hardware. When restoring from time machine macOS will force you to reauthorize. It will even force you to change iCloud password each time you change...
I've just noticed that when I connect my monitor to TB16, I can't control brightness using NativeDisplayBrightness Shortkeys.
But when I plug it into Belkin Express Dock HD, it works, so now I'm Daisy Chaining LG->Belkin->TB16->XPS and
Keyboard brightness control
Usb 2.0 devices
Yes it's the bios limitation, or to be more specific (according to Intel Support) error in Intel Management Engine settings.
Had same problem and managed to get it solved.
Tried regular BIOS recovery and it didn't do the trick.
Solution is BIOS Recovery by Security Jumper
You can locate the...
Got myself Belkin TB3 Express Dock HD Apple is selling for MacBooks for $299.95
And it works great, except that ... it doesn't charge my XPS! Got it on ebay for $110 so it might be a faulty unit, but
I'm not gonna buy another one just to see if that's the case. While testing it, I've noticed...
Finally got myself tb16 dock
Hotplug works for DisplayPort and Power delivery
Internal ethernet autodetects network as 100Mbit instead of 1Gbit, manual 1Gbit works thought but I use USB3 ethernet adapter plugged into tb16 instead.
USB2 doesn't work whatever I do and sadly USB3 hotplug works...
Finally figured it out (sort of).
Removing SSDT-UPRW.aml doesn't recover wake on lan (or wake on bluetooth/usb) functionality, but disabling SSDT-UPRW.aml in clover's config.plist does (only when SSDT-DeepIdle.aml is in place).
SSDT-DeepIdle.aml is intended to fix sleep issue and that what it...
I've been struggling to get iTunes playing movies without downloading them on my XPS 9560
Tried everything and nothing worked.
Then I've downloaded Windows 10 Virtual Box image, installed iTunes for Windows inside VM, and got streaming working.
I wonder why no one mentions it anywhere as a...
Spent last couple of days trying to boot Sierra/El Capitan.
Clover folders attached to theme won't boot it (wrong aptiomemoryfix would cause clover to stuck and whatevergreen wouldn't get graphics working), and other options don't support trackpad gestures (particularly tap instead of click)...
This is really irritating, I have to open lid and press power button each time I want to wake laptop when "docked".
Thinking of selling XPS and moving to MacBook for this single reason.
Anyone have this working properly?
