Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

For what its worth, I can't make a 7970 as second card with an RX480 and keep everything working. I can use two 7970s or two RX480s. But I cannot mix those two.

macOS Sierra PB: Need testers for new AMD Radeon drivers!

So I have two 480s working on 10.12.6 No mods needed to the kexts any longer. It will still not work in the second slot, but that is some sort of MB issue. I'm about to install High Sierra after this backup completes. Hoping that works out of the box too. Have you noticed any weirdness with...

macOS Sierra PB: Need testers for new AMD Radeon drivers!

Has anyone tried this with dual 480s?

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

The rx480 will not work in slot 2. I had to use slots 1 and 3 for my two cards. It's isn't an 8x issue because it does work at 8x in slot 1 (slot 2 has a pci ssd). The extra 480 will work at 4x.

macOS Sierra PB: Need testers for new AMD Radeon drivers!

    I've done this and the 480s are faster. With 2 480s I'm at an 10-11s BruceX. With 2 280x I think I was closer to 23s.

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

So I had two 280x in my machine, then I swapped for two RX480s. With the 280x I would get a BruceX time of about 23s. The dual 480x gets me about 11 seconds. Comparatively, in el cap with 10.2.3 I got a score of 22s with a 980ti. So I would say the dual 480s work very well.

    AMD Radeon RX 480

I still have the same issue. Did you ever get it to work in an x8 slot?

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

I just posted a message in the Nvidia thread, but I think it is important for those here too. If you are using a 100 series board with Sierra, you need your device named appropriately. My dual 280x have now dropped processing time from 1:50 to 0:34 by naming the device properly. It applies to...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS Sierra 10.12.2 (367.15.10.25)

I just discovered on my machine that FCPX will not use acceleration on a card properly if the device is named something other than GFX#. On most 100 series boards, it will automatically name PCI cards PEGP. Those cards to do not get proper acceleration. By renaming the device in the DSDT, I...

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

I'd be very cautious about getting a 980ti. If you are in El Cap, it may be ok. But it is not adequately supported in Sierra. FCPx is not accelerated. I just swapped out a 980ti for 2 Rx480s. In El Cap my speed was 14s for a BruceX render. In Sierra with the same setup it jumped to 50s...

Enable all cores R9 Fury cards

So this is curious. Like you, I am running the RX480 4G variant, but I am running two of them. I am able to get a luxmark 3.0 score of approximately 24,000. In 3.1 I get a score of 27,000. It is interesting that the performance of the 4G is that much lower on compute scores. I would have...

macOS Sierra PB: Need testers for new AMD Radeon drivers!

I had the exact same problem. I got around it by putting the second Rx480 in slot3 while the first was in slot1. It does reduce the performance a little due to a 4x slot, but it will boot. I could not get two RX480s to boot in slots 1 and 2. Like you I have a GA-170X-UD5 board, though not...

    AMD Radeon RX 480

So I have been able to get it to work by using the X16 slot and an X4 slot. I had to move a PCI storage SSD up to the 8x slot. The result is that the 16 throttles down to 8, but the RX480 still works. The second RX480 works in the X4 slot. My luxmark scores are approximately 22k, which is...

    AMD Radeon RX 480

Gigamaxx: I think I may have found my problem. It appears the RX480 does not work in an X8 slot. When I use it in an X16 it works. Are you using an MB with two X16 slots?

Enabling AMD RX 4XX cards in Sierra.

Would it be possible to post an ioreg export and list out any ssdt/ddst modifications you made?

Enabling AMD RX 4XX cards in Sierra.

If you only have 1 card, you can inject intel and ati and it will work.

Enabling AMD RX 4XX cards in Sierra.

I'll check out those power settings. I am familiar with the unplug routine. I had to do that with a single 480. I have an hdmi monitor and one with a dp/hdmi connection. Can I leave the intel card connected to the hdmi and leave the 480 connected to the dp/hdmi monitor? Do I still need...

Enabling AMD RX 4XX cards in Sierra.

I do have a skylake, but its a 6700. Not sure if the SSDT will be right. I'm still running into black screens on both. I've reinstalled Sierra just so I can get a fresh start. One card works well, but I need to inject ATI and intel both to make it work. If I inject neither, I can only boot...

Enabling AMD RX 4XX cards in Sierra.

I have dual Rx480s that I am trying to get to work. I can get one to work with no problem. Two of them and I just get a black screen. Can you answer three questions for me. I really appreciate it. 1) Can you attach your clover config? 2) Are you using modified 4100 kext or are you using the...

    Nvidia GPU for FCPX

The strange thing is, OpenCL benchmarks are great. And even metal benchmarks look great. But FCPX is not using it now. Do you know of a way to trick FCPX into using a different card? My first thought was that maybe they did something special based on the system id (17,1 14,2 etc). But then I...
