Other than Apple kexts, in S/L/E I have:
Then a bunch of IOUSB kexts which I'm guessing might be relevant?:
In L/E, the only clearly usb kexts have to do...
Excellent info and advice. I'm going to try this later in the week on one of the clones.
I'll check on the USB ports. I'm assuming that some part of the Sierra setup worked with Mojave.
Funny, as it didn't (and still doesn't) work with Sierra. I tried to get the ports working, but had little...
One other interesting thing with my Mojave Upgrade:
The front panel USB 3.0 ports started working, and the top 2 ports on the back started working.
Front what I can tell they are working at USB 2.0. That's fine as I have a USB 3.0 card that seems to
be working right. If anyone needs info on any...
Again, sending you tons of thanks and much praise for all your info.
I don't think I would have gotten this done as easily without your help!!!
I was able to update my Sierra build, and it runs great.
Thank you - I won't have to build a new rig for a while!
You thought about the...
That's great! Thank you for the info above. I'm not quite there, but I'm closer.
I decided to follow your lead on another front, and do a clean install on another drive.
This seemed like a good idea for 2 reasons:
it would confirm that my rig would actually run Mojave, since you...
I'm getting closer. I've taken a strange path on this upgrade because I was trying a different route before I found this thread. With hope it will work and I can reconstruct it and put some notes here.
I've got Mojave installed, but still can't boot all the way to the desktop.
Side question -...
Wow! This is an amazing amount of info here, and you are inspiring me to get back into solving this upgrade.
Thank you for the FYI in the earlier post.
Questions at the moment:
What version of Bios are you using? I only ask, because I am using the Bios that came with the board back...
Hmmm. Looks like you can't send a private message until you have 75 posts.
I'll watch your thread for an update.
I guess I'll keep trying to figure out my system in the interim. If I find something that works, I'll post it on your thread.
AG_Cipher Thank you so much, and thank you for your link - I'm watching it now.
I'll send you a couple of brief questions when I'm home later and can look at the system (on my phone now).
I'm hoping to get one or two more rounds out of this system. It's been great for a long time now (I did my...
I have the same board that you have, but a different GPU (Geforce GT640 - basic! maybe this is the problem?)
Did you do an install on your actual main drive and was it successful? I'm stuck getting my system to upgrade to High Sierra (trying to get to Mojave). When I try to do the reboot after...
After earlier issues, I now run a main system drive and 2 clones at all time.
So, I always update a clone, and if that runs well, I update the main drive,
then finally a second clone. Saves a bit of time and heart ache when things go wrong.
Anyway, I got the first clone to boot Sierra, but only...
Lol - yeah I don't know what I was thinking. Must have been thinking I had my Mac pro from years ago.
Honestly I usually skip these updates!
Anyway - can you tell me 2 things?
Where is the "Nvidia control panel" located? I have a basic GeForce GT 640 card, btw.
What folder is the Nvidia web...
I was able to get into my system by using the Clover install usb that I made a few weeks ago.
Boot flags worked and I got into the system. So I'm thinking that the boot loader is messed up from the security patch as well????
I tried to then load the drivers, and it said that it wouldn't work...
I installed this security update without thinking. :banghead:
It has broken the boot on the main drive - I get the black screen after the boatload allows me to choose which system to boot from.
nv_disable=1 doesn't help.
The usual boot flags I use don't help either.
I can boot into another...
