Thank you again @macnb, it wouldn't have happened without your help! :headbang:

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

I thought I would update the dual-boot success for anyone else who may want to do the same. Especially if they, like me, already installed Windows as MBR partition and BIOS IDE. It actually turned out to be easier than I anticipated. Thanks again @macnb for giving me the two options to...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Okay, thank you @macnb for the direction and especially for my working Hackintosh! So, even though the Dell 530 is Legacy BIOS and not UEFI, Clover will be able to boot Windows that is created in UEFI mode?

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

I have the Win10 SSD plugged in but it does not show up in the Clover boot menu. All that is there is the macOS drive and another named "Recovery." Also, in the past when I wanted to boot Win10, I had to go into the BIOS and switch RAID back to IDE in order to boot. If I didn't, I would get...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Turns out it was RTL8169, so I downloaded the AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext and replaced the 8111 kext with it. Voila! I have internet! @macnb, thank you again for your patience and assistance in getting this Dell 530 hack to work for me. Now that High Sierra is working, my next endeavor is to be...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Okay, I copied and pasted the RT8111.kext into the efi/clover/kexts/other folder but I’m getting a macOS error about “network properties” when clicking on the + sign to search for network. I went into the BIOS and enabled the onboard NIC and it does show up in the list of networks available to...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

The onboard is only a 10/100 so I installed a pci gigabit card that uses the Realtek 8111 chip.

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

HaHaHa! First off, yes, thank you sooooo much for all your patient assistance. I really do appreciate you alleviating the frustration that was building with this endeavor. As for the ethernet, I have already plugged the cable into the card and router. When I bring up macOS's network...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Hey @macnb, I received my retail Zotac 730 vid card and installed it in my Windows 10 drive. I knew something positive was happening when the GeForce Experience was able to update to the latest driver (the other card wouldn't). I disconnected the Win10 drive, connected the Hack drive and...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Hi sharan, I'm no expert (still trying to get my 530 to work), but I can tell you that High Sierra will NOT work with a Core2Duo processor. You probably also have a G33M02 motherboard which is also not compatible with High Sierra. I successfully was able to get macOS Yosemite to work on my...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Okay, I ordered a GT 730 (the one that I was supposed to get from ebay), from B&H Photo Video. It's a new retail card so it should be legit, even though it cost me an additional 50 bucks! Says it will be here Friday so we'll give it a go then.

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

You were correct on the GPU, it is the 108. I am returning it to the seller and will try to get one with the GF 208 chip. According to GPUZoo, this one is supposed to have the 208 chip so I'm a little concerned about the accuracy of their info. I tried using your SSDT and it made no...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Yes. Not sure but the CAPS lock would not light up. DVI. Interestingly, the place I ordered the new Vid card from sent me a slightly different one (https://www.gpuzoo.com/GPU-ZOTAC/GeForce_GT_730_-_ZT-71104-10L.html), but instead of a full size HDMI it has a mini HDMI and two DVI's. I can...

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Well, got the card installed, got it working with my Windows 10 SSD, shut down, disconnected Win10SSD, reconnected HackSSD, booted to USB after making the clover changes for Vid, booted to hackSSD. Screenshot attached where it went to blackscreen.

Not a problem, the Saphire 5670 I currently have does the same thing. I had to return my PCIe NIC for a PCI version due to that. Okay, I've ordered it and it should be here Monday the 26th. What changes will I need to make in Clover?

Thanks for the info macnb, does this one look like a possibility? I can get it off eBay for 30 bucks.

Dell Inspiron 530 - High Sierra

Well, if the vid card is the problem, I'm not above changing to something else. I searched out the card that you mentioned (Zotac GeForce GT730 2B ZT-71101-10L), but it doesn't appear available anywhere. Does it have to be that specific model or would another GT730 work?

I have tried the HDMI and DVI ports, my monitor doesn't have a VGA input. I copied and pasted your EFI folder and renamed my current one. Unfortunately, the result was the black screen at the exact same spot.
