    Pixelbook Hackintosh?

Nice find! Looks like it's progressing niceley: https://github.com/GalliumOS/galliumos-distro/issues/400 That may be a source of hardware compatibility info or source for drivers for the various components.

    Pixelbook Hackintosh?

Even though I'd prefer to run macOS as the root OS, one of the reasons I run macOS is so I can also run Linux and Windows with ease. Every other cross platform developer is in the same boat and generally needs to run all 3.

    Pixelbook Hackintosh?

Thank you, but I did do a thorough google search and there is nothing out there. All I know is that is has a i5-7Y57 in the base model and a more powerful i7 in the high end model. No word on the peripherals. I don't know how that processor affects compatibility. Note that the single thread on...

Apple Updates MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac with Kaby Lake CPUs

You're assuming there is a fixed number of these cards that AMD can sell. That's not the case. If Apple write a contract for say 1,000,000 units over 2 years, AMD will just build out (or more likely just order) manufacturing capacity to supply Apple. Since very few end users buy graphics cards...

CPU overheating issue for CG work

If the head is loose it's not going to make a proper connection with the CPU and heat won't get transferred. It should never be loose. It sounds like it let the air in an dried out the thermal grease. 48 deg sounds like fairly normal temps but you might want to check the mounting hardware to...

CPU overheating issue for CG work

Time to re-seat your cooler. Also check that something (like a motherboard component) isn't obstructing the cooler head or the hoses and stopping it from being seated properly.

CPU overheating issue for CG work

The likely reason is that your cooler is not seated on the CPU correctly. A mount screw or pin might be loose or the whole thing might be skew due to being knocked or otherwise displaced. You also might have too little thermal grease or it's dried out or unevenly applied. Bottom line is if the...

New Mac Pro's, iMacs and Apple Displays

Would you really buy one of those? Touchbar is arguably a gimmick.

    One system over two sdds

Don't believe everything you read, it's all nonsense. Although SSDs do suffer from wear, a modern SSD will probably take a decade to wear out, if that, under normal usage. Unless you're running massive databases that have huge numbers of transactions processed each day, you'll be fine. You'll...

Allow From Anywhere (Disable Gatekeeper checks) in macOS Sierra

So you support Apple's arbitrary banning of the developer of the well respected and popular developer utility Dash? Maybe you're posting from Russia or somewhere where totalitarian regimes are sort of tolerated. http://www.macrumors.com/2016/10/06/dash-pulled-for-app-store-review-manipulation/

How Many Monitors Do You Use?

Well that obviously depends on what you are putting on your screen: - complex 3D graphics: it will slow down a lot since each pixel that has to be rendered for the scene adds work - 2D graphics: if you have complex graphics (eg illustrator and perhaps PS) it may actually be faster since you're...

How Many Monitors Do You Use?

3 x 4K TV screens is the only way to go. Maximum pixels at minimal cost. I also have a 1080p screen attached for non-desk use.

Do you own a real Mac?

Mac Plus, Powerbook 100, and many, many more desktops and laptops. But no longer since they don't really pay much attention to their Macs anymore. Their thin and light laptops which might interest me are totally form over function.
