[Solved] Z370 Gaming 7 + GC Alpine Ridge TB Issues

I haven't yet. Was planning to wait on Nvidia releasing new web drivers and doing a full Mojave upgrade before giving that a shot. Hope I won't have to wait much longer...

LG Oled TV - 1080ti issue, no signal

I fixed my issue! You'll need to get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but not just any old adapter. It must be Active Display Port to HDMI. This converts the signal to be the proper Hz for the television and then it will just work like a charm with no software fiddling or anything. I got mine off...

LG Oled TV - 1080ti issue, no signal

Did you ever get this resolved? Because I have the same issue (I'm also running High Sierra). The TV shows a signal while the computer is booting and even during the Apple logo as it loads into OS X, but as soon as it gets to the point where it should show the sign-in screen, the screen cuts...

[Solved] Z370 Gaming 7 + GC Alpine Ridge TB Issues

Thanks for the update. I just got a Titan Ridge card to see what I can do with Thunderbolt. When I have time I'll give it a try and will update here. As for the m.2s, I'm dual booting so I've got two slots filled, but unfortunately I was hoping to put in a third as a super fast temp...

[Solved] Z370 Gaming 7 + GC Alpine Ridge TB Issues

I'm curious if you're still running with the same setup or if you found an alternate method. Because I have the same mobo and I would hate to give up one of my m.2 drives in order to install a Thunderbolt card. Are you positive that the lowest m.2 has to be removed? The manual says bandwidth is...

Boot failure Sometime (Prohibited sign / Couldn't allocate runtime area)

Dang, well that might be the fix I've been looking for all this time! The "solution" that I proposed earlier ended up not working for me in the long run, but digging into the BIOS confirmed that sure enough, my integrated graphics had been re-enabled at some point. So strange that it causes...

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

And now I must return, with heavy heart, to say that I jumped the gun and I'm back to having the prohibitory symbol on bootup. In fact, it's gotten so much worse, that after about 10 attempts (including booting to Windows and back to try OS X again), I have not been able to boot into my Mac...

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

Quick update for everyone, I can say without doubt now that this has solved my problem. No more prohibitory signs after several boots. Thank goodness!

Boot failure Sometime (Prohibited sign / Couldn't allocate runtime area)

Oh, I never renamed that file. I just dropped it into that folder as-is. Not sure if it will make a difference, but I'd try that.

Boot failure Sometime (Prohibited sign / Couldn't allocate runtime area)

I have the fix for this! Not sure if you've already seen it in my thread you responded to earlier, but here's how to fix this. Download EFI Mounter, select the correct disk (it will tell you what number your system disk is, so just match the first digit from the list) and mount the EFI...

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

Awesome! I went ahead and swapped it into my EFI drive. System booted up just fine. Haven't tried it enough times to confirm that the prohibitory symbol errors are gone just yet, but it sure seems promising. I'll keep those watching the thread informed. THANKS! Have you tried Going Bald's...

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

So, I went ahead and installed Clover to a spare USB, but the OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi file was nowhere to be found. I'm pretty sure I followed that user's post to the letter, and the drivers64UEFI directory only contained: FSInject-64.efi OsxFatBinaryDrv-64.efi VBoxHfs-64.efi So I'm really not...

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

Thanks for all the help. So looking into that, it looks like the relevant part of the guide would be: "Others report that replacing EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI/OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi with OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi fixes it." Someone mentioned something about installing Clover onto a spare USB drive...

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

Okay, so I downloaded EFI Mounter 3 from this link: http://www.tonymacx86.com/resources/efi-mounter-v3.280/ Got the partition up, and it says there's 185.1 MB of available space.

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

Here is what I got from verbose mode. (see attachment) Transcribed: OsxAptioFix2Drv: Starting overrides for System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi Using reloc block: no, hibernate wake: no Error allocating 0x15ade pages at 0x0000000014f93000 alloc type 2 Couldn't allocate runtime area Boot...

A long and boring watch, I'm sure, but I recorded everything described above on my phone. Here's the video:

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

So here's something interesting... the EXACT same circumstances I described above happened again today. Last night I was on my Windows 10 side, shut down the computer, went to bed. This morning, tried starting up into Mac three times, got the prohibitory symbol all three times. Booted into...

    Prohibitory symbol on boot... sometimes.

I recently made a fresh new installation of El Capitan to sidestep some longstanding issues, and I've got a real strange one on my hands. Frequently when booting, I'll get the prohibitory symbol after getting through the Clover screen (or the "circle with a line through it") and I'll have to...

Ruined(?) El Capitan install after changing administrative read/write settings on system drive

And if I were smart... I would have made one before this happened!

Ruined(?) El Capitan install after changing administrative read/write settings on system drive

I'm wondering if I should mount my El Capitan drive on a working Mac and edit the system preferences folder to be read only for administrators... but I'm not sure if those settings would carry back over to the system if I boot the El Capitan drive again.
