macOS Monterey is Now Available From the Mac App Store

Nice one. It'll amuse you to learn that at the end Software Update threw up an error message and the download disappeared. It is now starting back at the beginning again.

Gigabyte z590 vision D+ i9-10900k cant boot into the desktop

Sanitise your config.plist (redact the serial-number and UUID) then upload your EFI folder as a Zip archive, for us to check.

macOS Monterey is Now Available From the Mac App Store

That actually makes a lot of sense. Because BT drivers upload firmware to the adaptor on every boot, for system integrity and security you would install the kext element in kernel-space and the firmware in user-space.

macOS Monterey is Now Available From the Mac App Store

I'm presently downloading the 12GB Monterey update. 3.49GB done so far and just another four hours to go ...

Gigabyte z590 vision D+ i9-10900k cant boot into the desktop

Hello. Sorry, I might have missed it ... Please clarify what GPU are you using for display output?

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

It's a well-worn path, isn't it? I use the free copy of Acronis that came with my earlier SSDs. It was originally Windows only but I have a Mac version too now. Got a more recent version with a Sabrent USB to SATA adaptor cable. Free again !

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Stick the SSDs in adaptors? I have some 2.5" to 3.5" for SATA devices....

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

That's quite a cool device. I've seen them, considered one, but never taken the plunge. I guess if they do a sector-by-sector, bit-by-bit copy then even copy-protected files can be cloned disk to disk. True, this is something more likely to be useful for Optical Disks, but still ... Used as a...

    October 18th 2021 Apple Event: M1 Pro/Max MacBook Pros

Because I "bought back" my M1 Mac Mini, I have seen this from both sides - hack and genuine Mac - it's surprising how many macOS software developers haven't yet gone "Universal" never mind native AS ARM. One app I own stated in it's upgrade spiel that it was now "optimised for M1" but when I...

Getting started with Big Sur and Opencore on gigabyte z490m gaming x - Problems

I'm not at my desk to confirm but ... The gioscreenlockstate freeze indicates a GPU problem. Your SMBIOS as far as I can see it, looks mixed up. Check the serial-number which looks to be in UUID format (but be aware once fixed it needs blanking out before posting in public). Also in SMBIOS I...

    Samsung EVO 970 issues

In that case, sorry we couldn't help. Are you testing the RC of Monterey? Perhaps things will improve once it's official and your iMac is supported.

    Samsung EVO 970 issues

Well I know it does not help very much BUT I used a USB external enclosure with a SATA SSD in it to boot my iMac 2015 model, without any problems. It was so much faster than the built-in hard-disk. So I guess, check the way you are connecting your 970 and read through @Middleman 's post. :)

    Help with EFI Partition

Yes you can reformat the FAT32 EFI partition on it's own and not affect the rest of the drive - because you are not changing the drive's Partition Map. If you do that by mistake then you lose everything. However you have to use the Terminal version of Disk Utility, so be careful with your...

    October 18th 2021 Apple Event: M1 Pro/Max MacBook Pros

Of great interest, but I saw no mention (please update me if I missed it) of Rosetta 2. The original got phased out when PowerPC apps had mostly been converted to Universal or Native. When will the cut-off for Intel be? Likely some time off. Perhaps because Apple still includes x86 machines in...

MacOs 10.14.6 crashes on Asus STRIX Z370-F

All good guys. Just to add another two-pennyworth ... You do not need FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext on a Z390 motherboard. For any kexts in Library/Extensions that you delete, remember to rebuild your kext-caches. :)

MacOs 10.14.6 crashes on Asus STRIX Z370-F

Yes, that's the edit I made. Search the site to find the kext and give it a try? Okay, you cured it.

MacOs 10.14.6 crashes on Asus STRIX Z370-F

Sorry, I was still working on your reply when @Feartech beat me to it ... ! Check out my edit ... If you switch to OpenCore then I use a command-line instead to reduce kext loading etc. :)

MacOs 10.14.6 crashes on Asus STRIX Z370-F

Hi there. (Hi @Feartech !! Beat me to it again. ) Really, I wouldn't recommend using the macpro5,1 system-definition, which has memory allocation issues. There are other ways to get around the Preview/Quicklook problems with Mojave. ------> For Clover and the Z370 I preferred the...

    October 18th 2021 Apple Event: M1 Pro/Max MacBook Pros

Bit late to the party all, but I'm just scanning through the UK Apple Mac on-line store ... Actually no Intel i3 Mac Minis any more, only the i5's have survived the cull. A bit of an oddity - I can see the 24" M1 iMacs and the 27" Intel ones, but within the 27" i7's they also list a lone...
