Works with the OEMsmbios.kext removed.... GA-Z77X-UD5H i5-3570K. Audio reinstalled as posted. Thank You Tonymacx86 Team!

Ok now I'm pissed!
This OEMSMBIOS.kext file apparently is the culprit as many of you have written here. So, I booted in chimera, typed -x -s , and the system went to system prompt mode. I then, looked for that kext file in /system/library/extensions/.../oemsmbios.kext . Tried deleting that file but the system prevents me from doing so because it says that the folder is read only. WTF!

I tried chmod 777 to change the permission but didn't work. Now, I'm stuck with a file I can't delete and a system that doesn't bloody boot!

HELP!

My OEMsmbios.kext is located at /System/Library/Extensions/. After removing it, I can boot the system. Thank you!

Z68X-UD3H-B3 1.3 F9 w/ i5-2500K @ 4.2 GHz

I had the OEMsmbios.kext error but had to do a couple things to get around it. The update erased me FakeSMC plugins folder so I had to boot into Safe Mode, run MultiBeast to install the plugins, reboot, then boot in safe mode again and delete the OEMsmbios kext, the repaired permissions to be safe. All good after that.

Try running these commands before doing anything else:
fsck -y
mount -uw /

GA-Z77X-UD5H
i7-3770

Had two problems with this update which resulted in boot KP & boot failures:
1) remove oemSMBIOS from fakesmc
2) turn off 'VT-d' option in BIOS setup

After those two fixes (and a few hours figuring it out), everything appears fine now.

success, after two problems, installed combo update 10.8.2 rebooted and KP, removed OEMsmbios.kext and appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext, all working good also had to reinstall audio drivers......z68x-ud3h-b3 f12bios i5 2500k OC 4.2ghz Intel HD Graphics, good to make back up before, save headaches

Like others, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H, had to reinstall audio driver and disable VT-d in the BIOS and it came up smoothly. However, my GTX 560 Ti's graphics performance is really, really bad. Games where I was getting 120fps are struggling to do more than 20 now.

Successful update using built in updater.

Config:

Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH
Core i7 3770k
16GB DDR3 1866MHZ
GTX 670 AMP 2GB
Tp-Link WDN 4800 Wifi PCI Express Card
belkin bluetooth 2.1
