Monterey install failing via OC and only Preboot available via Clover

Nope I'm still on Catalina my friend and I'm afraid to have another go at it but I'm sure it will be the Preboot all over again.
I do want to switch though since there's already a new osX coming up so that's three behind.
Seems we're only a select few with this issue.
Yes, it seems. I also tried installing to the hard drive inside Catalina after launching the installer, but after the restart and installation, result was the same. By the way, how did you download the BigSur and Monterey installers? I downloaded using Opencore tool which includes even the updates, non of my previous installers were like this. Maybe it's just me over thinking. I really wonder if I've downloaded the launch version and if it's not going to fail. Anyway I've finally updated Catalina and gonna use it now ^_^ I hope there will be a way for you to update it to make your workflow smoother. Good luck!

Auto download via Software Update in Catalina, then created USB install drive as per instructions here. So Launch version doesn't work either mate.
You updated Catalina? to Big Sur or Monterey or to latest version of Catalina?
Later ;)

Yes, the latest of Catalina. I wanted to try BigSur but after seeing your results, I don't want to waste my energy I am happy with Catalina, so I'll keep using it, I also have 120GB (half of my drive l left) I will play with it using a different Clover version from time to time to see if it's gonna work. I am tired to spend more time as I'm also very busy, just suffering from Omicron or Covid for over 25 days and I had a lot of free time :p (I finally get to install Catalina after 1 or 2 years lol I gave up the last time because I failed, then didn't even booted the OSX partition up until recently but this time it only took 3 days xD
I really love to play with dual booting, Open Core never was a success to me in the first place. I have tried it couple of years ago for days and it never worked, even a lot of Youtube videos never was helpful. So I gave up. I appreciate your kindness, but for me, I guess, I will stick to Clover as it's a part of my life now haha :D I truly don't have energy to deal with kernel panic and these stuffs.. I don't even have working BT/WF combo, just only ethernet works and kext even break on r5149.. Maybe this is my last hope..

I hear ya mate, same here. OpenCore might be less hassle afterwards but you need to get to that point first.
Since I work a lot in 3D using DAZ and Blender I am really considering buying one of those RTX 3060 and finally make the switch back to Windows. I hate even the thought of going back to Windows because osX is a dream to work in (all feels more connected and makes more sense) but on the other hand my renders which are now rendered on CPU will probably go from 8 hours to 30 mins.
Since Im forced to make the switch I would rather like to go all the way and get the RTX 3080 but my 650W PSU probably wont’t hack it. So extra costs, me low on cash, not good.
I even like gaming in osX so if Apple wanted they could fully support 3D apps. I can run almost all games maxed out at 1080p. Of course the 3080 in Windows would open the gate for 4k gaming for me but I only play occasionally these days, far from what I used to so that probably means the RTX 3060 will do fine for 1080p gaming in windows. As far as I know it almost doubles the performance of my RX580. Hopefully that will translate into everything 3d, not just games.

I will surely miss osX when that time comes. One could say use both but for what, I will do most of my work in Windows anyway. The first thing Ill do is get me one of those gui mods to make it look like osx so I wont’t feel that far from home.

It’s a damn shame they put some of us in this position by taking away support for certain apps or hardware configurations.
Ive been into this since 10.4 maybe sooner and while Ive lost a lot of work and time getting it to run properly I still enjoyed all of it just because osX is such a joy to work with, smooth experience with less glitches but I reckon windows seems to have improved these days.
Even if Im able to upgrade to Maverick Im still scrwd with 3D!

Rant over
Take care amigos.

Why didn't anyone mention booting via Preboot is the new way of booting MacOS???

I messed around with OpenCore because I thought this was not the way to boot.
Nothing but issues until I found out about Preboot being the new normal, for both Clover and OpenCore, even real Macs.
So then I installed like before using Clover and continue boot via Preboot and all is well, obviously.

Be warned, some of us have issues with OpenCore and Z97 boards so better to stick with latest Clover.

my machine won't boot up from the Preboot entries for Monterey and Ventura and I am using the correct settings in Clover afaik.

I've followed Opencore guide very carefully couple of months ago, and I've been using Monterey ever since, however I couldn't update to the latest version of it since it broke the Intel HD 4600 graphics and I didn't want to look for a fix.

After I moved from Clover to Opencore, I realized that dual booting with Windows is the only problem since Windows see my computer as a real Mac when using certain software. I barely use Windows nowadays so now I have it on a different external drive, rather than being on the same drive, different partition. Just plug and boot whenever I need it.

Preboot never worked for me either, just like every else have suggested, I always thought it would never worked before I failed couple of times, but I think trying Opencore would be the best way and I really am happy to move after all these years. Once you get it to working, it feels easier than Clover.
