Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Hi Casey, I didn't originally. However, I updated Intel ME, and then re-installed the ver. 2204 BIOS firmware. Still same problem. Based on the kernel panic, it looks like VirtualSMC crashes when it is in the middle of assigning cores. Could this be an issue with the fact that I'm using the i9-13900k?
I hope you don't mind my asking but how did you update Intel ME? Using Windows?

Hi @CaseySJ
Why can the ThunderboltEX 4 card display the Thunderbolt Bus in the Big Sur system, but the connected device still does not display in the Thunderbolt Bus? Did you test as well?

My Thunderbolt device is Zikko Thunderbolt 3 Dock 8K UHD PD85W and hard disk.

Please try Enabled.
I selected this option the UAD2 TB3 need to be switch on before booting, no hotplug then. And that changes nothing the UAD Plug can be load (even if it takes a while) but when it comes to play the composition in the DAW it freeze and disable the plugin.

@Azimuth1 @dehjomz

Thank you both, and that's what I am afraid because I don't have Windows loaded on my hackintosh. The fact that Intel ME must be updated prior to upgrading the FW is mind-boggling.

Other manufacturers like MSI and Gigabyte appear update the ME with the BIOS update, but for some reason, ASUS decouples the ME update from the BIOS update. Usually, it is not an issue, but with Z690 + Alder Lake + now Raptor Lake, the Intel ME needs to be updated so that Raptor Lake PCH and the CPU itself properly functions with Z690 (Boosting behavior, etc.). If you have access to a Windows machine + admin privileges, you can use Rufus to make a Windows-to-go installation on a USB disk, boot from that disk, and install the ME update. That is what I do… use Rufus + Windows-To-Go on a USB disk.

Hello guys

I need some help please. I have a few things I am trying to fix.

I am having troubles with Adobe Premiere Pro 23.x and Media Encoder 23.x
  • Premiere Pro lags when scrolling fast on the timeline: it’s slow and lags
  • Media Encoder just crashes when importing a batch of file to convert
I tried Media Encoder 23.2 beta and I have the same result: it crashes.
It seems that changing render to software only solves the problem, so I am thinking it has something to do with hardware acceleration.

On the other hand, when using APP and AME 15.4.1 there are no issues whatsoever. It’s just that I’d like the newer version to work as they are faster, if only they worked.

I believe the system is configured correctly (EFI as per CaseySJ’s config).
When using his EFI folder, my 6900 XT is recognised as Metal capable. Commenting with # GPU in DeviceProperties actually enables Metal 3 but doesn’t solve the issues. Other things I tried: disable in BIOS igpu, disable in BIOS ResizeableBar and adjust config.plist accordingly.
Not sure what else to try.

Another weird thing is that Paragon NTFS Notification Center process tends to crash as I have seen in Crash Reports, but that happens also on fresh install of Ventura in my Intel MBP with absolutely nothing installed other than Paragon NTFS, AdGuard and and 1Password. Not sure it can be solved then.

One last thing is: when I clear NVRAM, OpenCore picker disappears and system boots straight to Windows.
I found a temporary fix using Bootice as explained here (extremely useful) but I can not understand why as it did not happen before.

Thank you in advance

Hi,
I've posted a question in the graphics forum but no one is replying.
If anyone has experience with RX 6900 XT cards can please give me a hint or something?
Thanks for your help!

I am running latest Monterey with latest Premiere and Media Encoder with no issues, also running a 6900XT GPU. I assume you're running Ventura, I have not tried this yet with Adobe- I usually wait until the .3 OS updates before I upgrade my main drive. I did have a similar experience on this Z690 board where the timeline became very laggy, although it didn't matter if HW acceleration was disabled. My experience was not unique to my system as many people across real Mac systems were having issues. The root cause ended up being a MacOS update from 12.1 to 12.2 or 12.3. The upgrade damaged the Adobe installation somehow. Adobe never officially acknowledged it at the time, but it was all over the discussion boards. In the end, I completely uninstalled CC and reinstalled. It's a pain in the butt, but it worked and got me back in business.
