My "Mini-ITX 2" Skylake computer (listed below) running Monterey 12.6.1 currently has two 250 GB SATA SSDs, which I am going to change to two 1 TB SSDs. One way to do this is to format the two new SSDs, then install Monterey 12.6.1 on each one from my Monterey USB flash drive installer, then with one installed in the computer do a Migration Assistant transfer from one of the 250 GB SSDs. Then pull the 250 GB SSD and then have both 1 TB SSDs installed, and use Migration Assistant again to transfer from the now fully-populated 1 TB SSD. But is that the easiest way? Is it the best way? I know that CCC cannot just move everything from one SSD to another (it could on Mojave, but not a later MacOS).

Any advice? Thanks!

Thanks, Edhawk!
[Edit: Reading through that procedure, I found that the most pertinent paragraph for me was the last:
"Please note, however, that our recommended and supported procedure for restoring your startup disk from a CCC backup is to install macOS onto a freshly-erased volume, then use Migration Assistant to migrate data from the CCC backup. A bootable volume is not required for this procedure." Which is basically what I wrote above as my "One way to do this is to..." So I guess I will go that way.]

Yeah, seems you hit it on the head first attempt.

I obviously missed that part of the 'CCC guide', Doh!

Still attempting to install Monterey on a blank 1 TB Sandisk SSD. Tried the following:
1. Used a Kingston 16 GB "Traveler" USB2 stick with a Monterey 12.6.1 installer. Install failed about 19 minutes before complete with a "damaged installer" error message. Repeated and same error at same place.
2. Re-installed same installer file to same USB stick per Apple's "create installer" procedure. Same problem when trying to use it. Assumed the USB stick was bad.
3. Copied same "Install MacOS Monterey.app" file from a backup WD Elements drive to the Applications folder of my working Monterey installation on my 250 GB SSD. Double-clicked it and ran an install on the 1 TB SSD directly. The installation ran until about 2 minutes were left, and stalled. Tried same thing again, except put my OpenCore EFI folder on the 1 TB disk first. The installer ran, but now stalls (with no error message) at 3 minutes before finishing.
4. Now downloading Monterey 12.6.1 installer via WiFi from the Apple server. "About 2 hours remaining."

[Edit 12/04/22: Okay, the download was finally successful. I found that "About 2 minutes remaining" really means ("I haven't stopped; be patient." About 7 minutes later the computer rebooted and continued installing. I now have Monterey 12.6.1 on one of my two 1 TB SSDs and am downloading the installer again to put it on my backup SSD.]
