Hi,
I have a working install of Big Sur and have updated to the latest OC version 0.8.5, plus the latest versions of VirtualSMC Lilu Whatevergreen and AppleALC.

I'm trying to do a direct update through System Preferences but the Monterrey Installer panics with the following IOPlatformPanicAction Errors:
IONVMeController
AppleAHCIDiskDriver
AppleSMC

I have checked my config.plist and it's clear of errors (ocvalidate)
Googling around and searching this site has netted me any clues on how to solve this.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Fish

* Turns out it was unsupported wireless networking kexts *
Thanks to @wstrohm for putting me onto it

Could you please upload a "zip" of your EFI folder (with generic Platform serial numbers deleted)?

I don't know if it has anything to do with my issue but I have tried setting SecureBootModel to Default and to Disabled without any difference.
In this file I think it's set to Default ( which was the . . . default)

Hi.

The first thing to try is to change in your config.plist the Misc/Security/SecureBootModel setting from Default to Disabled.

See if you get any further.

read post above I was late with the edit.
I predicted that would be the first lot of advice and I forgot to mention in OP that I had already done so.

Comparing your config.plist to my
"Mini-ITX 2" computer's config.plist:
1. In ACPI/Quirks, you have ResetLogoStatus Value = YES; I have NO.
2. In DeviceProperties/second item, I don't think you need the two frame-buffer items, but maybe it doesn't matter.
3. In Kernel/Add, since you uploaded only your config.plist and not your entire EFI folder, I don't have total visibility. However:
a. The order of listing needs to be changed. Specifically, your item 3 (Lilu.kext) needs to be moved to item 0.
b. IntelSnowMausi.kext should be replaced by IntelMausi.kext.
c. You seem to be missing USBPorts.kext or equivalent USB port configuration. That is required for Monterey.
4. In Kernel/Quirks, you have DisableIOMapper Value = YES; I have NO.
5. In Misc/Boot, you have PollAppleHotKeys Value = YES; I have NO.
6. In Misc/Security, you have AllowSetDefault Value = NO; I have YES.
7. In NVRAM/Add/3rd item/boot-args, you have agdpmod=pikera , I do not. You have an RX 580; I have an RX 560. Maybe that's the difference? I don't know.

The only other comment I have is that in Kernel/Add, you have "HS80211Family.kext," which I guess is a Wi-Fi kext I haven't seen before. Don't know what WiFi card you are using; I'm ignorant there.
Good luck!

Thanks mate, appreciate your time - that gives me somewhere to go.
I'll get editing and see what happens.
Cheers

Hmmm, I tried the suggested tweaks, My current system still boots fine (Big Sur) but the Monterey installer still panics with the follwing:

I think it might be the Wireless Network kexts.

further up I see the follwing:

A couple of questions:
What is the make & model of your Bluetooth/Wifi card?
Could you please upload your current EFI folder? (I would like to check the version numbers of your kexts against OpenCore's version.)
Are there any third-party files in /Library/Extensions, i.e. non-Apple files? There should be none (as far as I know).
Do you have your USB ports assigned and not exceeding 15 active logical ports? If you look at IORegistryExplorer.app, down in the "XHC" category, what is shown?

Disclaimer... no expert here, but you might have some work to do to identify physical vs. logical USB ports and select the ones you need, maybe using Hackintool.

I have been clinging onto an old wifi adapter that has been unsupported since High Sierra and a Bluetooth dongle.
The Blutooth dongle has worked OTB until now. The WiFi card needed patching via kexts developed by other users.
Neither work now with Montery.
My hackintosh crashes randomely and Some ports stop functioning when I try to Inject All USB ports prior to doing the USB mapping in Hackintool . . . so I have given up.
System is up and running, minus WIFI and Bluetooth.. G'Bye magic mouse and wireless phone sync, but hello Logic Pro 10.7.5 :)
