Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Thanks, I managed to do the update, but it doesn't work on my hackintosh... I've tried everything... I'm practically giving up on this card on Hackintosh.

Now I have another problem that I can't solve either, it's how to activate USB ports, I can only activate 2 USB ports and 1 USBC ports.

Which is very strange because it should activate at least the two USBCs... any suggestions. ?
Which Firmware version is shown during boot/windows?

Thanks for the information. Why is DDR5 limited to two modules for this build? Is this a limitation of using Mac OS with this motherboard?
No, it’s a board/CPU limitation. There aren’t even 4-chip sets of DDR5 RAM, which says it all.

Again, folks DO get it to work with a pair of a matching two-set, but XMP will be tough to get stable, so at best you’ll be stable at stock speeds (5600 for Z790, 4800 for Z690) and even then you may have issues in apps that are RAM critical.

Just my research ‘tho… no first-hand testing.

Current early generation DDR5 modules seems to have a hardware limitation on both AMD and Intel motherboards where if you run with 4 modules installed instead of two, the sticks will not run stably at XMP speeds. Enabling XMP may lead to not being able to post.

In fact, the stock operating frequency for four DDR5 modules is lower than that of two modules. And post times with 4 DIMMs may be longer vs that for 2 DIMMs on some motherboards.

You may be able to manually tune the frequency and timings to be close to XMP but you will not be able to do so automatically.

So to avoid the headache, the recommended approach for now is to use two DDR5 DIMMS where possible. The good thing with DDR5 is that it allows for more dense configurations, and we now have 32 GB DIMMs available so you can do 64 GB in only two DIMMs. This wasn’t possible with DDR4 (as far as I know).

Thanks for the information on DDR5. I haven’t used it before so useful to know.

You can def buy 32GB DDR4, and even 64gb, but I seriously wonder what motherboard would support the latter.

Also, I “think” if you want 128GB on DDR4, the max speed is 2666… but it’s been awhile that learned that, and it may be different with newer boards.

This guy is using 4x32GB RAM on this board, but can't get it to run at XMP speeds. Says that should be fine for "creators" (users of Adobe products).

Finally got the system up running.... Z690 Proart Creator, i9-12900K, Sapphire Nitro RX 6800 XT

Thank you CaseySJ for the guide!! I'm still testing the system to see what kind of issues I have..... one problem I can't seem to go into BIOS when on DisplayPorts, only can be entered on HDMI....

Also, are this only cosmetic?? I'm seeing number of cores to be 24??..... and the processor speed of 3.18 GHz.....

You need BIOS version 1.0.3 to get it to work. Contact Highpoint tech support. They provided me with the old BIOS versions. Than flash in DOS environment.
I attached the BIOS 1.0.3 version for the 3720 card. I am not sure if the cards use the same chipset, the readme patch notes files for 3720 and 3740 versions of the BIOS file are identical. Maybe you can use that file. Otherwise Highpoint tech support is the safest bet.
