Anyone got any tips for installing Ventura on this motherboard and cpu. Currently running Monterey 12.6.1 no problems with Opencore 0.85 and all the latest kexts. I'm using a imac17.1 profile. Also using a Radeon 580 graphics card. I tried OpenCore Legacy Patcher latest version which detected my build imac 17.1 and then went on to select imac 18.1 to spoof it but for some reason the option to add this to my efi is greyed out. Will this method only work if you are doing this to a usb stick for a clean install or can you use your internal drive which I have Monterey on? I do realise that my Skylake cpu is not supported. I suspect I'm out of luck here but its worth a try. Many thanks.

Getting Ventura to work on Skylake is a tricky subject. You could try to spoof SMBIOS iMac18,2 and use Kaby Lake IDs to spoof the graphics under Device Properties and see how that goes. I’ve heard of people getting results working with that.

Thanks for the reply. My main problem is that is the Opencore Legacy Patcher option to add the spoof to my efi is always grayed out so I cant patch the efi. I've tried with 18.1, 18.2 and 19.1 same results.

I was wondering if the reason it doesn't allow me to do this is because I'm doing it from my main internal drive and not to a usb pendrive first. I'm trying to update from Monterey not a clean install.

Yes. I believe the EFI partition it restores to needs to be blank.

Ok thanks I will give that a try.
My second MSI Z170A hack works smoothly with Ventura RC 22A379 and OC 0.86
I have not used the Opencore Legacy patch option but only upgraded to OC 0.86 and choosing which smbios iMac18,3 with its specs.
I updated directly from Monterey.

did you change only smbios? not any other setting? could you share your config.plist to be my guide?

Here is my EFI for MB Z170 working and updated to OC 0.86 and Ventura 13.0 ver 22A380.
I only deleted my personal data.
