Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

No. Just Ventura updates from system preferences. It always says it is up to date. I’m running Ventura, and my Mac is enrolled. But I can’t see updates on system preferences.

Make sure config.plist > Misc > Security > SecureBootModel is set to "Default".

I have not heard of black screen issues... The 6800 XT should just work. All you need to do is add "agdpmod=pikera" boot-arg.

@pastrychef Is there alternative for this settings in Clover? I use Clover mainly for dual booting Windows 11/macOS, and with OC i had strange bugs and issues on windows.

Not that I'm aware of.

Hi, @pastrychef on the z390 M Gaming, there is a final update to the BIOS, do you recommend to update?

I never tried that update because it can not be downgraded if it doesn't work well. I went through a few BIOS versions that had lots of issues and finally settled on F9l which worked and was afraid to try the newest one.

Hi @marcosperalta02 - I have the related Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X (in fact because pastrychef's EFI's were mostly compatible with my motherboard, I largely credit him for my system being so stable) which I upgraded to the capsule BIOS. I mainly did it because I've been pretty obsessed with keeping my system up to date, sometimes to a fault.

Functionally, I don't really see any difference. When I mess around deeply with the BIOS, there is a standing issue were my RAM doesn't play well with the XMP settings and it is a tedious process to get it back up to speed again. But that issue happened whenever I flashed the BIOS, upgrade or downgrade. With the capsule BIOS they say that it protects against security vulnerabilities, so I can't tell if it's worth it or not because I would only regret NOT updating if I got hacked. But I can't really tell the difference. My main desire is to overclock my system, and with each successive BIOS update, I keep hoping that it will enable better overclocking. But it seems like I can't push my CPU to the same levels that others have achieved.

The only thing I regret from the update is that I am no longer able to customize the POST splash screen. Previously, I had a nice white Apple on black background that seamlessly transitioned to the Apple bootup process (I have my OpenCore bootpicker turned off), so it was almost like a real Macintosh booting up. But the application to modify the splash screen isn't compatible with the new BIOS. Other than that, the only advantage is peace of mind that the capsule BIOS is supposedly more secure.
