Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

This was done with a flashed GC-Titan Ridge.
Yes, was interested if the on board Thunderbolt 4 was disabled or left enabled while the patched GC-Titan Ridge was installed.

Well that counts as progress I suppose! When the card appears in Graphics/Displays, please run IORegistryExplorer and post the IOReg file. I’d like to see if the AMD graphics driver is actually getting attached.
Yes it is!
Here is the ioreg file. By the way right now i am using Z390-DESIGNARE-NVM67-CASEYSJ.bin file.
And your SSDT which you edited.

Thanks

Hello guys,

First of all I would like to thank @CaseySJ for such a good build.

Successfully used this thread build for my setup with some edits. All is working fine (cpu, gpu, wifi, bt, airdrop, etc.) except sleep. I managed to find the problem, it is ASMedia Hub ASM107x / ASMedia ASM1074 that is responsible for some ports on back panel.

Hardware:
CPU: Intel i9-12900K
GPU: Asus TUF Radeon RX 6900 XT
MB: Asus ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4
RAM: 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4
SSD: 1TB WD Black SN750
Wifi/BT Card: Broadcom BRCM20702 PCIe card

Here are my findings:
1) BT on / USB mapping ASMedia enabled - wakes up from sleep immediately
2) BT off / USB mapping ASMedia enabled - sleep works
3) BT on / USB mapping ASMedia disabled - sleep works (current option)

Can you please direct me what I have to do to to enable ASMedia in USB mapping in the right way? (I tried internal/usb3 types for it). And I don't understand why Bluetooth in PCIe slot somehow depends from it. (I know that BT module card has power from internal USB port on motherboard, but it is Intel's chipset port)

Thanks

The driver is seeing the external GPU, but alas it's unable to instantiate completely.

As a hub, the ASM chip would want upstream ports (from Z690) set to "internal". Same for the BT module.

Can you describe what personalities+port numbers you've found and post your USB map?

Hello @nmask,

Some comments:
  • When you created the USB port map, did you also create a port map diagram? If so, please post a copy of that.
  • There are two internal USB 2 headers on the motherboard. Is the WiFi/BT card connected to the left header or the right header?
  • Does the USB port map set both of these headers to type 255?

Also I have ordered received this alternative frame for the LGA1700 socket. My CPU temperatures are on stress test too high. Will install it soon. Is there anyone else who is looking to bring the temperatures down by means of such a frame or has already done so?
I saw a YouTube video last night that was pretty detailed evaluating the heat distribution when using this frame. It looked like it works well in mitigating the warping of the CPU and improving the effectiveness of the cooler.

In Ventura public beta 3 I've experienced the problem with the CPU heating up and no sleep too. Running the terminal command sudo pmset schedule cancelall solves this indeed. And more important after doing that a few times after startup the problem is now gone on my system. So no need to run the command every time.

I have one of these installed, it didn't make much of a difference but they are easy to install.

** Ventura Public Beta #3 Sleep Problem **

Is you're running Ventura Public Beta #3, please see this post regarding sleep/wake:
Happy to report that works nicely, I have been trying a variety of things to get sleep working again. I'm betting this is resolved in future releases but if not the fix is in.
