[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi. I installed from Mojave to Monterey 12.5 with OpenCore 0.8.3 using the update from HackinDROM on my Z390 Designare. I am having a lot of issues from my Ethernet ports. When I used migration assistant, it ported over the Mieze driver. I only have one Ethernet port working. When I deactivate SmallTree and Mieze kexts, the computer crashes with the Monterey driver after 30secs.
Is there a way I can get these two ports working on Monterey ? I actually need both, one for my Dante network, one for Internet.
I guess I probably forgot VTD enable in BIOS which is why everything crashes with the apple e1000 driver.

Yes, AppleVTD is required in Monterey and Ventura. Is the port working properly now?

Yes, this is what I usually do.

If WiFi continues to fail, please run IORegistryExplorer and search for “AirPort”. Does it exist?

I replaced the latest version of the OpenCore Configurator but I still have warnings when I boot the computer and still no wifi. I checked IORegistryExplorer after AirPort but could not find it.

Very grateful for the help!

Hello @Joakim1337,

OpenCore Configurator will be updated in a couple of days to support the Release version of OpenCore 0.8.3. Currently it supports the Development version only:

When the new version is released, check if the title bar says "0.8.3 Release Configuration". Then open your config.plist, just click on each section on the left side (ACPI, Booter, DeviceProperties, ...) without making any changes, then just save the file (CMD-S). This will update your config.plist to the latest OpenCore schema.

Regarding WiFi, it seems there's a hardware or BIOS problem. Some questions and suggestions:
  • What is the make/model of your WiFi/BT card?
  • Which slot is it in?
  • Is it inserted fully into the slot? Try gently removing and reinserting the card.
  • Does the card appear in BIOS? There's a section in BIOS that shows all PCIe cards that are installed.

Hello @jeff.m.ruth,

Samsung 970 will experience slow boot speed in Monterey due to incompatible "trim" function. However, if you upgrade first to OpenCore 0.8.3 and then upgrade to Monterey, you can disable the trim function in OpenCore as follows:
Hi @CaseySJ et all, I am in the middle of a Monterey upgrade and been stuck on the Apple Logo stating their is 10 min remaining. Should I wait it out? Should I do a hardboot? It's been in this state for about 90 min

That is definitely not right so:
  • Hard boot should be done
  • When OpenCore boot picker comes up, press and release CMD-V to enable verbose logs
  • Then let the system boot the default option, which might be called "Macintosh HD"
  • Keep an eye on the logs to see where the process stalls
It would also be good to post a copy of your config.plist, but remove serial numbers from PlatformInfo --> DataHub before posting.

OK, here is where I am at. I hard booted by machine and it booted to a Monterey login window. One I logged in my mouse/keyboard become unresponsive and I get an error pop-up>(See attached photo). I did this a couple times and same result. I captured some of the boot logs as best I could.

Which version of macOS are you upgrading from? Or is this a fresh install on an empty disk?

If you’re upgrading from an older version, there might be some third party drivers (kexts) that are not compatible with macOS.

Also, a copy of your config.plist with serial numbers removed would be helpful.
