The IOReg and the Hackintool PCIe screenshot you provided shows the SSDT is working, as all the data from the SSDT is being shown in both locations, under both the XHC4 and XHC5 devices.

What I do find weird is that both PCIe cards show 8 x ports being available. To my mind given there are 5 x USB3 ports externally and an internal header port providing an additional 2 x USB3 ports, I expected each card to have 14 x ports available (7 x USB2 and 7 x USB3).

What does the IOReg and Hackintool PCIe window show when the SSDT is removed from your setup, and the Nvram is cleared before you boot back in to macOS?

yes - only one is connected to the case ports via the rear 19 pin connector. the second card should show 10 (5 usb 2 and 5 usb3) nothing connected to rear connector. the first should show 7 usb3 and 7 usb 2 by my reckoning

Ill uncheck the ssdt and post findings

Well that is a stark contrast.
  1. The same 8 x USB ports show under the PEX3 device, but under the FL1100 name not XHC4.
  2. None of the ports on the PEX7 card show, so there is no XHC5.

So the SSDT is definitely good for your system. As it provides your system with an additional 8 x ports.

I found out why they are only showing 8 ports, two ports are 4-port hubs, one hub each for the USB2 and USB3 sides on the 1st card, XHC4.

Under the XHC5 device multiple ports are setup as hubs.

Conclusion form this little test is you need to use the SSDT!

so if I understand correctly there is port sharing going on?

what about the first point you mentioned re "built in" in the ssdt? should that be altered?

Yes, there is port sharing via built-in hubs with these FL cards.

I don't know if or how the Built-in aspect in the SSDT affects the cards if I am honest.

Having thought about this some more I think this might be a red-herring, I threw in to the arena. As built-in=01 would be the equivalent of enabling the built-in process, usually built-in=00 means it is disabled. So I may have made more out of this than was warranted or needed.

On a real Mac Pro (new or older versions), the only Apple system that can accept one of these cards, the card would not be set as built-in. It would be treated as an external PCie device.

Not sure if this helps or not.

Is it worth me trying to change it and see what happens? when's yours arriving?

It is always worth trying, as long as you can undo what you try and not break your system while trying.

My card is not expected to arrive till Tuesday/Wednesday next week. At the moment all I know is it has been dispatched.

Prob best if I wait until yours arrives..as Im not sure how to go about it...
