pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

The new OpenCore 0.8.0 EFI doesn't work with my machine. 0.7.9 works perfectly, I double checked twice. I am on Big Sur 11.6.5 (20G527). See screenshot attched.

The fourth to last line says something is not compatible. I don't know what it is.

Yes, I noticed as well.

Some things you can try:

config.plist > Misc > Security > SecureBootModel > Disable

or

config.plist > UEFI > APFS > MinDate = "-1" (without the quotes) and
config.plist > UEFI > APFS > MinVersion = "-1" (without the quotes)

The USB ports are specific to motherboard. You need to do your own mapping. The USB 3.1 gen 2 ports should work because they are on a separate controller.

The slow boot might be due to a Samsung NVMe SSD.
I'll give that a try

I do use a Samsung NVMe disk :(

OK, I will try this. Thanks.

There's a Trim issue that causes slow boots on systems with Samsung NVMe SSDs.

Before I try this there is one more thing I noticed:

I still have BIOS version 2401. Maybe this is the issue? I will try to update to the recent BIOS 3004.

First of all I still have BIOS version 2401. Maybe this is the issue? I will try to update to the recent BIOS.

And second, I noticed the following error message before the boot loader:

"OCS: no schema for CustomPciSerialDevice at 5 index, context <Quirks>!
OCS: no schema for ForceAquantiaEthernet at 11 index, context <Quirks>!
OCS: no schema for Serial at 5 index, context <Misc>!"

Any idea how to fix this?

The BIOS should not be a problem.

Make sure you are booting from the correct EFI. Those messages make me believe you are trying to use a new config.plist with an older version of OpenCore.

OK, I updated the BIOS and used your 0.8.0 OC EFI from Post #1 and put in my values. Now it works, but I also had to delete the SerialInit-Line first. This time I used OpenCoreConfigurator 2.59.00. When I first tried to update to 0.8.0 I used the 2.60.0.1 when I got the strange error message. Maybe this was the reason.

Thanks for your support!

I got it!

DIY dust filter... Need to go buy and cut an A/C filter to place between the bottom filter and Mac Studio... Using rolled up napkins for now...

Btw, Migration Assistant from hack to real Mac works fine. It only took about half hour.

Need more storage space? No problem. StarTech Thunderbolt 3 to eSATA to SanDigital 4 bay eSATA enclosure was plug-n-play.

Edit:
The eSATA Thunderbolt adaptor disconnects on heavy load so I reverted to using the USB 3 on the enclosure and it has been solid. However, on USB 3, I kept getting the "Disk did not eject properly" message when system goes to sleep so I installed Jettison. It's not perfect but it helps with the annoyance.
