Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

I am using LRC 11.1. 11.2 hangs at the splash screen then crashes. Shut down gone with clean install.
Other people reported 11.1 Development module got blank screen. I tried and found the same. You don't have this issue?

11.1 works for me but when you first open it, the boot time is annoying long. Subsequent boots in the same session blazingly fast.

@CaseySJ Rx6400 can work with Hackintosh.
Although Monterey 12.4 public beta was just released, we (meaning I) don’t know if additional AMD GPUs are supported. I really doubt it, which means AMD 6400 is not supported. Only 6600, 6800 and 6900 are currently supported (from the RDNA 2 series).

So I think it is display driver issue. I tested with iGPU and it can be the problem. May upgrade to Z690 later when GPU price is dropped.

I couldn't help myself and have jumped on the z690 wagon after watching all of your beautiful minds work out Alder Lake, so THANK YOU a million times over

FYI for anyone with a Gigabyte RX 6600 XT Eagle card and using MacPro7,1.

I noticed my RX 6600 XT was not being shown properly in Photoshop and Geekbench, so I applied this 12.3 gpu fix @CaseySJ pointed to on his first post. The card showed up fine in PS and GB after that, but my Geekbench metal scores were still at around 55000. (They are usually 86000-89000 with this card.) Since I knew the card worked on my previous build natively on 12.3, I just removed the device id for the GPU entirely, and all is working as it should. Metal scores are back to 86000, and CPU scores are SC 1957 and MC 15485, which will do me juuuust fine :D:D:D

@haurb900 - Apple fixed the driver issue in their 12.3.1 update. You should update to that and remove the modifications to the config.plist. Many of us are see that after applying the update, our GB scores went back to normal.

Haha. Black screen, progress bar then login screen. Mine boots directly to loginin screen with default Monterey wallpaper then the progress bar with wallpaper and the final desktop. Takes about 25 seconds from bios post. I’ve never seen this before.
A follow up on this problem. From my perspective, there is definitely an incompatibility issue with the WD SN850 PCIe 4 SSD and Monterey 13.3.1. I cloned the installation from the SN 850 to a Samsung 850 Pro SATA disk and to a Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe, and they all load properly. Apple logo, white progress bar on black, login screen instead of Apple logo, login screen on Monterey desktop graphic, then progress bar on Desktop graphic then the desktop. Otherwise the installation appears to be normal. I have been getting some random KPs which I never had before. This is the second clean installation I did on the WD SN850. May be worth a warning.

For those of you having trouble with Adobe Lightroom Classic, on the Sabrent drive I was able to update to version 11.2 with no problem. 11.2 would not run at all on the WD SN850. Not sure I understand why there is such an incompatibility. Ultimately, I moved my Windows 11 install to the WD SN850 and mac OS to Sabrent Rocket and everything works on mac side but I have not fully tested the Windows side since I rarely use it.

I think I misunderstood your post. Are you asking if RX 6400 works with Hackintosh or are you confirming that it does in fact work?

@CaseySJ I wanted to express my thanks to your guide - it is definitely one of the top guides I have followed (my favourite is dortania's guide), with "dummies" type of illustrations that I find extremely helpful and succinct.

I have the following hardware + settings:
  • Z690 Aero G DDR4 (F8A)
  • 12600K (slightly OCed with p-cores 5.0 5.0 4.7 4.7 4.7 4.7 , 3.9 all e-cores, vcore auto with -0.015 offset, AVX auto)
  • 64GB DDR4 OLOY 3200Mhz (XMP profile 1)
  • 2TB KIOXIA-EXCERIA PLUS G2 NVME (first NVME slot, Big Sur 11.6.2)
  • 1TB WD750 NVME (customer cooler, have to fit it in 3rd NVME slot, Win10)
  • RX 570 4GB
  • Stock Intel Wifi card that came with mobo (disabled as I use LAN)
  • Gigabyte Alpine Ridge TB card (lowest PCI-E slot, stock firmware, 5 pin connection)
  • OC 0.79, using your EFI as base, updated platforminfo.
  • USB ports - using Starghost1100's front USB-C mappings (ACPI USB - all others have been turned off, KEXTs- intel wifi/bluetooth is off, Broadcom wifi/bluetooth off, XCHIportlimit quirk disabled).
I have followed your guide to migrate an existing Z390 installation to Z690 motherboard, and it is stable, but have a few hiccups with TB3 I would like to seek help on. I have already cleared NVRAM to ensure nothing odd is carried over from Z390. I have attempted to following your guide links to other TB3 posts to troubleshoot, but seems like most documented ones are using custom firmware. Mine is original firmware, I won't be flashing it to custom firmware as I do not have the tools or skillset to do so.

Please forgive me if my search efforts have missed info that may have already discussed. Thank you.

Questions:
  1. I am unable to utilise the TB card at all, it does not show up in PCI (oddly I have only 3 devices, compared to what you have). I have tried following an external site's "how to enable thunderbolt 3 on MacOS open core", tried HackinDROM and building my own TB3-SSDT, does not work and no entry is shown in PCI. TB3 hub is not recognised, nor any USB3 C devices when I hot plug or cold plug into the TB3 card.

  2. Comparing to your guide, my IOreg shows very little information with thunderbolt, so it seems I have not configured it correctly:

  3. This is my BIOS settings for TB3 card:

  4. Any ideas?
Thank you.
