Corsair RM 750x (2021)

I recently bought a 2018 model of the RM 750x PSU, White Series. It's still unopened and within the return period. I'm wondering if the improvements in low load efficiency in the 2021 model are worth it despite the PSU having 28dba noise levels versus near completely silent operation in the 2018 model. My PC runs at low load 90% of the time and is turned on 24/7.

Yup! My biggest takeaway from it is less noise on the 2018 model (important to me) but also improved low load efficiency on the 2021 model... but not sure if it's significant enough to go with that and sacrifice on noise levels. I should mention I already bought the 2018 model for $110, but havent even opened it yet and still have time to return/exchange. The 2021 sells for $145, though really, budget isn't a huge concern for me.

I guess it boils down to noise vs. efficiency... what's more important?

If you're concerned about efficiency, get a well-sized PSU of a higher rating, Platinum or Titanum.
If you're concerned about noise, get a Seasonic.
If budget is not a concern, just get a Seasonic Prime TX.

I decided to stick with the 2018 White Series RMx, looked at some comments on LinusTechTips forum comparing the previous gen to the new one and the noiseless one makes more sense to me. It's still a fantastic PSU.
