Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

My 9-5 job is within the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, After Effects and Premiere). So I absolutely need something very reliable as its my primary machine for work. Would you say the hackintosh is at its end for Adobe app users?

I've been debating whether I should go with a 10900K instead... Or a 10980XE.
Well, there is a few years left still in the old dog. So it's not quite there yet. You'll likely get another 5-6 years worth of use, if not a little more if Apple ever chooses to release a Xeon Ice Lake SP desktop.

Would you advise against Alder Lake for people that rely on Adobe apps and stick to z490/z590 platform?

I believe the apps can open initially without it? But for me AVX-512 certainly has to be enabled if you want the full functionality.
If AVX-512 was necessary, Adobe applications would not provide "full functionality" on any real Mac but the MacPro and iMacPro: No Core CPU up to and including 10th generation has AVX-512! That, obviously, is NOT the case…
Some functions have alternative AVX-512 code to speed up operations if this instruction set is available; but it is not necessary, all functionality is available with the regular (non-AVX-512) code. Alder Lake hackintoshes are obviously not in the same situation as Ryzen hackintoshes, where the unsupported CPU is not correctly probed and the AVX-512 code is called up instead of the regular one.

Pressing a key on keyboard is normal for wake-from-sleep. Just be glad your system wakes from sleep!
hahah yeye! But I meant two pressing. One for the wake (partial wake) and one for activate the monitor and so the real wake

Yes, even that is normal. On my Apple MacBook Pro (2020 Intel mode that I've since replaced with 14") I had to press a key three times to wake it up!

Hello, I have an already working EFI for my workstation based on a Gigabyte B550 Vision D-P along with AMD Ryzen 5900X.
I created it from scratch based on OpenCore 0.7.6, it is really a vanilla configuration, but it works.
One thing is not working at all is the Sleep/Wake.

In autumn 2020, @CaseySJ published a post for a fully working sleep/wake feature. I would like to edit as less as possible my config.plist to avoid breaking something.

@CaseySJ : should I only to copy ACPI and Kexts folder content to mine and then do a clean snapshot by ProperTree app? Or should I also edit the config.plist for other settings?

Hello @Nighthawk99,

We should use OpenCore Configurator instead of ProperTree. Each version of OpenCore Configurator supports two versions of OpenCore only, so it's essential to use the right version of OpenCore Configurator.

My recommendation for you is this:
  • Use the BIOS F13 version of OpenCore 0.7.6 EFI folder from this thread as your starting point.
  • Follow the 0.7.6 mini-guide in which it's necessary to configure Kernel Patch 1, 2, 3 according to the number of CPU cores in your Ryzen 5900X.
  • Also configure BIOS according to Post 1.
Let's see how far we get with this EFI folder (yes I know you have Vision D-P instead of Vision D). Then we can make any adjustments to accommodate devices that are specific to the Vision D-P.

Thank you @CaseySJ for joining the conversation. :)

First of all, I need to understand better the BIOS version discussion because they are different in Gigabyte B550 Vision D and D-P variant.
I have F11 installed on my motherboard, which should be equal to the F12 version on the Vision D, based on the Gigabyte support page (see the attached).
In this thread they are available two EFI versions: one for F10, one for F13, so none for the F12 bios (Vision D). Should I get the F13 version even if I don't have an updated BIOS version? I don't want update it for now.

The other bullet points of your last message have already been followed, all done.

Why I cannot get the EFI Folder you prepared when wake/sleep was fixed (October 2021)?

BIOS F11 for Vision D-P is okay. Let's fix issues as we encounter them. For now, please try booting with the OpenCore 0.7.6 folder that you just downloaded and configured.

Hello, ok, downloaded the EFI F13 for OC 0.7.6, configured as per instructions and booted without issues.
I have not internet connections, but that is because I have different Ethernet ports. It is not an issue, I know how to set them properly, as well as the Intel AX200.

Sleeping is definitely a problem because I setup the monitor power off to 3 mins., just to test. After three minutes the system halted and rebooted.

The system looks like very unstable: I launched OpenCore configurator to mount the EFI partition on the USB, the system crashed and reboot.
