Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

Hi Casey,
for me with B550 Vision D BIOS F13 on Big Sur

- OCS warning appear with UIScale 13 index

Update
- Bluetooth seems to works but no IntelWifi => Works now with Big Sur Kext
- Resizable BAR Support not work with -1, maybe with 0 ? => Works with ResizeAppleGpuBars = 0 on Booter and ResizeGpuBars = -1 on UEFI
- Only OCS appear but not very important
The OCS warnings usually mean that config.plist contains an entry that is not recognized by a particular version of OpenCore. If using OpenCore Configurator, check that the title bar says OpenCore 0.7.5 Release Version.

I have a hardware question, that I hope you guys with the same build would weigh in on. I bought this build fully aware, that this would probably be my last hackintosh, with Apple moving to their own silicon. So I thought: better get the fastest (more or less) build at the time, because in a year or so, who knows what is supported. Well, I am looking at my Radeon VII and wondering if I ought to upgrade to a RX 6800 XT or maybe even a RX 6900 XT, not for today, but for the future. I am not confident that a RX 7800 will be supported by Apple, I am also hesitant on paying a pretty insane price for a year old GPU. But I am really conflicted. Also because of the price hikes on the 6800 XT a 6900 XT is "only" 200 dollars more in Denmark (more or less). What would you guys do for this build, keep the Radeon VII, buy the 6900 XT or is it not worth the extra 200 bucks?
I use this build for FCP X, After Effects, and also gaming in Windows which this system will transition to when it no longer supports usable for Mac (if it isn't obsolete by then).
I hope it is okay, that I pose this question here to you guys with the same system.

It is really difficult to predict whether Apple will support one more generation of AMD NAVI GPUs. Because the current 2019 Mac Pro should be fully supported by Apple for about 5-7 years, it is possible that Apple will release a new AMD 7000-series GPU module, but the question is how probable that is.

If you need a 6800 XT or 6900 XT now, then I would recommend purchasing it. Because resale prices of GPUs are still very high, you could always sell it later for more than you paid for it! :)

Which GPU would you recommend of the two? Is the 6900 XT 200 USD better than the 6800 XT… I am leaning 6900 XT because it actually is closer to it’s MSRP than the 6800 XT.

If 6900 XT is only $200 more than 6800 XT, then I would choose the 6900 XT. If we look at the MSRP, the 6900 XT is $350 more than 6800 XT.

Thanks for the recommendation and advise

Hello

It seems that with OpenCore 7.2, a Radeon RX 580 and a version of Mojave, installation of Mojave (10.4.4 in the year of 2019) is possible as iMacPro1,1. There is at the end a stop for to install after 8 minutes.
(argument or support for mojave in opencore ?)
This is realized on my config as: B500 vision D, processor AMD 5950X, a RX580 and NVMe SP 1T.

I will give more information later.
Hello maclinuxg4,

We have the same basic hardware. I'm having difficulty moving from OC 0.6.9, which keeps me from updating the bootloader and installing Monterey. Would you mind sharing your EFI folder and indicating which version of OC you are using? Just FYI, ocvalidator passes my config.plist for OC 0.7.0, but my updated EFI will not boot a test drive.

Have you tried the procedure described in the OpenCore 0.7.5 mini-guide? A link is provided at the top of Post 1.
