[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Your Radeon card is toast. I’ll buy it from you for $50.
Jokes aside: I have a system with a Vega 64 (using Radeon boost) and it’s fine, so I’d double-check your config. I do have a different build with two RVIIs in a cubix xpander w/o RSB (because the UI card in the computer is an RX590 and it hates RSB) but that’s still on 0.7.2. I’ll try to find some time tomorrow to vet for you, update it to 0.7.3 and report back, but I expect it also to be just fine. I am using iMacPro1,1 on both, however—and Catalina.

Anyone here on Monterey? I'm trying to go from beta 6 to beta 8, but it seems to fail to update. Do we need OpenCore 0.7.4 for that version?

I was trying to go from beta 6 to 7 earlier, but also no success. It keeps me on beta 6 after the update process.

Yes, OC 0.7.4 is needed for Beta 8. It should be officially released on Monday.

Running 10.15.7 on a Z390/i9/Vega64. Lately I notice performance loss in video rendering. What's the best way for updating to Big Sur? Clean install or update? Is there a mini-guide available? Search won't help me out. Thanks!

Please note that performance loss in video rendering may not be solved by upgrading to Big Sur. The upgrade can be done in-place from System Information —> Software Update, but OpenCore is required (not Clover). Any version of OpenCore since 0.7.0 is okay. Not necessary to be on latest release, but also best not to be more than 6 months behind.

Thanks for your quick reply. Feeling like a noob here, did a fresh install of Catalina about a year ago with the mini guide (can't find it anymore). It had - I think - Clover. How to proceed with OpenCore?

Apple Music Lossless?

I have discovered, and also read there is an issue with playing Apple Music in Lossless mode. It just skips the tracks without playing.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Apparently switching to iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS gets it working?

Is anyone else having issues with their Radeon card not getting utilized for video rendering? I noticed a slowdown in workflow recently and I'm not sure what I broke in OpenCore. Compressor/Final Cut both use the CPU much more than the GPU, and according to VideoProc my GPU is recognized and ready to be utilized.

I'm using OC 7.3, Big Sur 11.6.1, and a Radeon VII. I've tried both iMacPro1,1 and Imac19,0, but I had the issue since OC 6.9 at least.
Sorry, guiscard, on two systems here the GPU utilization is working as expected, on both 0.7.2 and 0.7.3. However, and again, I'm on Catalina, and further, I don't use FCPx or Compressor, but Resolve, Adobe, and Avid. Try running Geekbench and Cinebench to test out your GPU utilization. For a comparison, and using Radeon Boost, my Vega 64 runs a 73k GeekBench Metal score, and on the system with the Radeon VIIs, it can pull 100k scores. Start with that and if your scores are in the ballpark of mine (with RB), I'd start taking a closer look at your config.plist, and/or issues with BigSur and FCP/Compressor. i.e., you say you tried the two main SMBIOS flavors, but did you correctly configure/remove your GPU device properties for each?
Good luck,
J
