TP-Link TL-WN882ND can't get it to work

Recent research in the forum shows that the TP-Link card that I have is V2, which is a Realtek chip, and not V1 which had an Atheros chip. So maybe this is progress. Now I need to identify which components to load.

OK, stand down folks. I've decided to cut my losses and buy a different card.
Thanks for your help.

Good idea, as the Realtek card wouldn't work due to a lack of macOS drivers. The v1 card can be made to work, with the Atheros drivers Apple provided.

Are you going for a Fenvi T919 card

or a real Apple Airport card BCM4360..... mounted on a PCIe adapter card?

I use the later in all my desktop systems.

Thanks EdHawk (again). Can’t get the Fenvi here in uk. Will look at the other option.

Try searching on Amazon.co.uk for Fenvi T919 and a whole raft of options will appear. Well they do for me and I am also based in the UK!

The T919 card costs £58-£60.

The HB-1200 card costs £49 (slower Fenvi WiFi card)

I have bought a TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 which works first time with kext IO80211Family.kext. Cost £20 on eBay. Yes, I am a cheapskate. This is my son's machine that I made for him in 2014 - so pretty good longevity to bring it up to Mojave. There's no real incentive to bring OSX right up to date because he would lose the use of a number of apps from Adobe and others that would be costly to replace.

Thanks to EdHawk and Feartech, this chapter of struggle is now done and my son gets a rejuvenated Hackintosh back to make music and video and (apparently this is important) games on the new Windows 10 boot.

I could bore you with stories of my B.Sc in Computer Science from 1975 (our MBR was on paper tape, etc, yawn) but I won't.

And the time I bought a 20Mb [sic] disc unit to go with my PDP11 in 1979 and hurt my back carrying it up the stairs....

Thanks again you two.
