Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

is version f5 absolutely necessary? downgrading from f7c to f5 has caused me nothing but issues, can't even get my gigabyte boot logo to show through my GPU, system only displays after entering windows OS.
  • 1000 users running BIOS F5 report no problems.
  • 1 user running BIOS F5 reports "nothing but issues".
Does this mean BIOS F5 is bad?

But if F7C runs well, by all means continue to use it.

Okay, I guess my bios isn’t part of what’s cause all my issues then. I will look at other things then. Thank you!

Unfortunately Big Sur does not yet attach the correct driver to our i225-V Ethernet port. It still attaches the 1GbE driver instead of the 2.5GbE driver. With FakePCIID disabled, do you see this?

Yes, I see that driver. Which correct driver am I suppose to be looking at though?

Did it use to attach to this incorrect driver in the past as well? Or it used to attach to nothing at all? I'm curious if anything had changed at Apple side.

Yes it has always attached to the incorrect driver. However, when we use FakePCIID, it attaches to the correct driver, which is AppleIntelI210Ethernet.kext.

It may worthwhile to perform a CMOS Reset, then configure BIOS parameters again, starting with F7 (Load Optimized Defaults). Issues such as missing Gigabyte splash screen are usually cleared up with a CMOS Reset.

Btw, it looks like it HfsPlus is updated on May 5. https://github.com/acidanthera/OcBinaryData/tree/master/Drivers
Can be included in this month's release.
OpenCore 0.7.0 should be released tomorrow (Monday). Given Apple's WWDC keynote and tons of post-keynote press, it will take me an extra day or so to release the 0.7.0 EFI folder.

Lots of excitement has been building for the Big Day tomorrow!

Looks like macOS 12 might be called Monterey.

Please try the following in Terminal:
Bash:
cd /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
sudo rm NetworkInterfaces.plist
Then reboot. Don't worry -- the NetworkInterfaces file will be rebuilt automatically on reboot. Then check Ethernet port connection.
Hi @CaseySJ Thank you again for offering a solution to try. That didn't work, Ethernet port still non functional.

I should also add that now under hardware > ethernet cards it says "This computer does not appear to have any PCI Ethernet cards installed."
Occasionally it shows the card info, but it mostly says this when I check. Very strange...

Some suggestions:
  • Perform CMOS Reset and configure BIOS parameters again, starting with F7 (Load Optimized Defaults).
  • Check that Ethernet ports are enabled in BIOS.
  • Disable Serial Port in BIOS. (Vision G.)
  • If you have Windows or Linux, check if those operating systems can initialize and operate the Ethernet port.
