[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

No problem. Although the previous files should still be okay (worst case we can flash the original one back at any time), I've modified the latest firmware. Attached Zip contains two versions MOD1 and MOD2.
You are amazing, thank you.

Unfortunately, it is not good news. I've tried flashing both files, MOD1 and MOD2. In both instances my Thunderbolt doesn't work at all, no matter how many warm boots I do. I've checked IOREG, and it has just disappeared completely, nothing under RP05 anymore.

To confirm - I am using the SSDTs you provided in the folder with the first two firmware files, i.e., SSDT-TB3HP-GA-X170Z-UD5-TH.aml and SSDT-DTPG.aml.
I have also disabled the two ACPI edits you gave me, i.e.:
  • E23 to XE23
  • _INI to XINI
While I had the machine open, I removed my PCIe firewire card - that doesn't change the port for Thunderbolt somehow does it?

Big Sur 11.2.3

Has anyone updated ?

Thx

Updated OK!

Hi Casey,

Apologies for my enormous radio silence on this!

Do you have other Bluetooth HIDs (HID = human interface devices)? Apple Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard, unfortunately, lose most of their magic on Hackintosh. We recommend Logitech wireless mice and keyboards that use the Logitech Unifying receiver. These devices work in BIOS, in OpenCore Picker, and of course in MacOS, Linux, Windows, everything under the sun.

Pressing Shift-Option while clicking the Bluetooth icon in menu bar will reveal an extended window as shown below.
  • Under Devices you will see blue icons for connected peripherals and gray icons for paired, but disconnected peripherals.
  • For each connected device you will see RSSI that stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator, which is a measure of the strength of the signal received by the connected device...
The Designare Z390 comes with an outboard antenna with two coaxial connectors. If RSSI is low, disconnect the bottom two antennas from your Fenvi and attach the outboard antenna in their place. Then move the outboard antenna in various positions to see if RSSI changes.

You can also try Factory reset all connected Apple devices and Reset the Bluetooth module.

My RSSI was actually quite good and none of your other ideas helped. But, lo and behold, upon updating to OpenCore 0.6.7 following your guide, my Bluetooth issues are gone and everything works great! Not sure if that makes any sense, but I'm happy nonetheless.

Thanks so much for all that you do for this community!

Okay, let's try MOD3 and MOD4 attached here. If these also fail then we'll have to fall back to the SSDT method (TbtOnPCH).

The one from HackinDROM is the right one, but it needs to be adapted to the PCI root path of your motherboard. If you post SSDT-TbtOnPCH-Designare-X299-EX.aml, I'll modify the HackinDROM version for your motherboard.
Thanks @CaseySJ

Attaching the .aml requested.

I'll test it out and get back with updates & results

The Root Port is RP05, so the changes were quite simple. Please try the attached SSDT, but disable the following:
  • Disable this in ACPI: SSDT-TbtOnPCH-Designare-X299-EX.aml
  • Disable this in ACPI --> Patch: _E23 to XE23
  • Disable this in ACPI --> Patch: _INI to XINI
Then:
  • Copy SSDT-TB3-Designare-X299-EX.aml to OC/ACPI folder
  • Add reference for SSDT-TB3-Designare-X299-EX.aml in ACPI section of config.plist
  • Also confirm that SSDT-DTPG.aml is still active

Hey @CaseySJ

I'm using the same motherboard as @gabevf what is the difference in the SSDT you shared and why the renames need to be turned off ?

Genuinely curious to know if this could improve TB stability on this motherboard.

Thank you for your hard work.

Please try the attached MOD2 in combination with the same two SSDTs from previous reply. Also ensure that all any Thunderbolt SSDT is disabled.
Hi CaseySJ, Thank you for your follow-up. Unfortunately, after flashing MOD2, it appears the same result as MOD1. I was wondering if we could go back to SSDT(TbtOnPCH).

I don't know if it is related to CH341A, my CH341A often fails to flash firmware, I have ordered Raspberry Pi 4, I hope to see the effect.
