And also from a parallel universe where the 944 was considered cool.
 
Later can we pull out the the engine that comes with the 944 and replace it with one from a VW beetle?

No, the Beetle was a flat-four, the 944 was an Audi underneath. (Interesting fact you didn't expect me to know...) However I did work with a bloke who told me he put a 911 engine in a Beetle while serving in the RAF in Germany ...

I have a friend who 30 years ago put a V8 in a Mini - it was such a rust bucket you could see the road under the passenger foot well, great acceleration, sadly no more after the brakes caught fire and he'd already used the fire extinguisher he kept in it for that purpose. Think Herbie had a Porsche engine too.
