Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey,

When I change the System Product Name to iMacPro 1,1 do I also need to generate other serial number? Is there any risk that Apple may blacklist my ID?

Thank you again.
It's okay to just change the name for short-term testing. If you don't experience any glitches or issues after a couple of weeks, you can keep the new name.

Please backup your ACPI folder and try the modified one attached below. Copy all files inside the unzipped folder to your OC/ACPI folder.

There is a new version of the Thunderbolt hot-plug SSDT as well, called SSDT-TB3HP-V2.aml. Simply edit your config.plist in OpenCore Configurator and make the change shown below.

@bider,
Please do the same. Then reboot and post a screenshot of IORegistryExplorer --> RP05 section.

Then reboot and see if you can launch Windows from OpenCore Picker.
Should I try this also?

@CaseySJ, first off, thank you for your extremely detailed guide! It's been extremely helpful so far. I've got an issue right now where my installation fails within two minutes of beginning Phase 2. I've attached my error log. It seems like there's a No such file or directory error early on, and later output shows that the com.apple.main-thread is crashing with the exception type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS.

My error log looks somewhat similar to the situation here:

I tried manually running the installer as described in this thread, and copying the SharedSupport folder from the USB to the Catalina SSD with no success:

Initially I got this error when using the latest version of Catalina on my install USB. I have since created a fresh install USB using Catalina 10.15.7 and ran into the same problem. I've also tried swapping out my ram (2x16 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz) for a single, different 16gb stick of the same ram which I've tested before using MemTest86 so it should be good. I'm trying to install Catalina on a 500gb WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD, no luck with that or my 500gb Samsung 860 EVO.

I'm feeling somewhat foolish for attempting this build as my first Hackintosh. Any help is appreciated!

Thank you.

@bricknewer,

Welcome to the forum. There are two components in your system that jump out as being potential problems:
  1. WD SN750 SSD
  2. MSI RX 5600 XT
When you attempted the installations on the Samsung 860 EVO, was the WD SN750 still installed in the system?

Some MSI NAVI GPUs have known problems with macOS. In this case the recommended installation procedure calls for physically removing the MSI GPU and using “config-Intel-iGPU.plist” to drive the monitor via an on-board video port such as the HDMI port or the two Thunderbolt ports. The two Thunderbolt ports are recommended (but HDMI is okay too) with a USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

Should I try this also?
The Thunderbolt SSDT here is identical to the V2 that I provided earlier. But you can certainly try that entire procedure.

Thank you! Excited to get into Hackintosh!

The WD SN750 was still installed while attempting to install on the 860 EVO. What about the SN750 is potentially problematic?

I'll try installing using your GPU recommendations tomorrow. In this case can I install drivers for the GPU after successful macOS installation? Or are you saying that this GPU is potentially incompatible?

Is the SSDT-DTPG.aml still needed paired with SSDT-Z490-TB3HP.aml for TB?

Seems like TB3 is working tho:

HI all,

I need some help please..

All of a sudden my hackintosh has become very unstable and will randomly freeze.

I'm not sure what's changed for it behave in such a way but it it has been in the last week or two. The problem I am finding is that every freeze is not repeatable, which is frustrating as I cannot seem to narrow down the cause apart from the fact I am working with audio (Pro Tools & Cubase).

Each time the fault thrown up is different as well and it is a Kernal Trap? Not sure what to do at this point or to just rebuild (which I want to avoid)

I have included the two Crash Reports so far in a zip folder

If somebody could offer up some ideas/suggestions, I'd be very grateful.

System is
Z490 Vision D/ i7 10770k/32gb Ram/ M.2 XDATA 1tb/ Radeon RX580 8gb/ TB3 with UAD Apollo

The RX 5700 XT is natively supported in macOS, so no drivers are needed. When the installation with IGPU is complete, then you may install the AMD GPU. At that time we will need to change your Platform ID back to 0x3E980003, so let us know when you're ready.
