Do you think this will work on our HP 8300? Its a DDR3-1866 PC3-14900 GSKILL.
My experience with this ram, 1600 MHz version, is that it worked perfectly in my Z68 Sandy Bridge system. I tried it in my Haswell refresh Z97 system and it didn't work that well. Eventually one of the DIMMS failed. Stopped using it after that. So for your 8300 Ivy Br. system it may work but I don't have any experience with it in an HP 8300. Also note that it won't run at the rated 1866 MHz speed either. The best you can do will be 1600 MHz.

Note the date of 2011. It was designed for Sandy Bridge and works well with those systems. IB is similar enough that may apply as well. You'll have to try it to find out. I wouldn't use it in any PC from 2013 or newer i.e. Haswell, Broadwell etc.

Good time of the day! I had a problem that I could not solve, I changed the Samsung 17 '' monitor with a 1280x1024 monitor resolution to 22 '' with a 1680x1050 resolution, I cannot set the screen resolution in the Mac OS Catalina settings. The maximum possible monitor resolution is displayed at 1280x1024. Connection via built-in Display Port with VGA adapter. Everything works well on windows 10. I tried RDM, Resolutionator, SwitchResX - I get a flickering screen with a resolution of 1280x1024. Updated BIOS nothing helps, my hardware is HP 6300 SFF i5 3570K HD4000. Thanks in advance for your reply.

The difference between Win10 and macOS is that Windows still supports VGA connections while macOS doesn't. So when you adapt DP to VGA things like this are common. Would be better if you could adapt your DP to DVI or better yet to HDMI to get the resolution you want.

Will the GT 710 graphics card save the day?

The 710 should work but not via the VGA output. Use a digital connection only.

Do you think the HDMI output with a VGA adapter should work?

Do you think the HDMI output with a VGA adapter should work?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've never tried that. All my monitors have HDMI input.
