The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Sry on phone and not able to check ATM but I suggest reading the first and third?post in the alternatvie thread, and checking your bios settings for option ROM and all graphics settings, there are differences in the builds mentioned thete
I tried the different Legacy ROM settings enabled and disabled and the power settings. What about trying S4 and S5?

The settings I am using have an issue where the sound goes thru one port but sleep only works if there's a monitor on the other. Will take a look later if you include pics of bios settings and config.plist formatted for clover, I'm not able to comment on oc stuff. No to S4 s5, make sure you have disabled hibernation.

I will be playing with OpenCore later. So, you have my config.plist from clover here. I tried S4 and S5. Boots fine. No change in sleep waking right up. Thanks!

Your config.plist has a few edits that are not from this thread and some seem more likely to hurt than help. Ive run thru the config in a text editor deleting stuff I think is not helpful but not checked it aginst any of the standard ones. Put this in the Clover folder, reboot and at clover screen select Options, Configs and then configCutDown, then return out from the menus and select your OSX drive to boot from and it should use this one for just that boot

That was very nice of you. Thanks! It boots up fine, but I still can't Sleep from the menu. The computer wakes up again. I could try to disable wake with USB device. That option, however, hasn't made any difference in previous experiments.

I'd go for new if you have a spare drive, but in any case step thru the process you wish to build with - I don't know whats causing the issue but Id check the most fundamental settings in your machine are as some known standard, i.e., The Intel Mangaement Engine, The UEFI boot mode and default settings on the BIOS, and then step thru the whole process checking the state as described is reflected on the machine and making sure the extra bits which are there now are removed leaving only the bits from one set of instructions.

I redid step 3D and reinstalled the Custom SSDTs and the HFSPlus.efi as well. Sleep works. Thanks for your time and encouragement. Encouragement is everything. Now on to OpenCore.

In hindsight, I probably had a hodgepodge of different downloads from related builds and just didn't have the specific ones I needed. Or step 3D didn't take the first time I applied.

New Big Sur Desktop Guides Thread Started
I've started a new thread where you can post in relation to using Open Core and Big Sur Public Beta on your OptiMac. I am not planning on upgrading or even experimenting with Big Sur till it's out of beta later this year. So please don't expect help from me with bugs in Big Sur or Open Core trouble shooting. It's primarily to keep this thread from getting taken off topic to OC and Big Sur problems. Thanks !

It would be great if we could have an OpenCore Big Sur guide for Optiplex 9020 for those who want to engage that build. I wouldn’t jump on it as my Catalina setup is stable but eventually would be interested. Especially if the power mgmt is more stabilized.

It would be interesting to see how dual monitor DP using HD4600 works with OpenCore - as it works fine for me now except on occasion one screen won’t wake up, which is frustrating as the other screen is fine and I can only see half of my stuff :) It’s fairly rare though.
New thread has been started in Big Sur Desktop Guides. Still in early development (Alpha) stages.

If anyone is interested, the VirtualSMC kext has been updated recently and they've added an SMC Dell sensor plugin. Give it a try with the Macs Fan Control app and report back. https://crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control. If you are on Catalina, simply add the Dell sensors plugin and updated VirtualSMC kext to your kexts/other folder. Reboot, then open the MFC application.

Added a new plugin SMCDellSensors for Temp/FAN monitor/control

I'm able to manually control the stock Dell fans. Tested the OEM case fan and got it up to 2601 RPM. Not bad at all. It didn't even get that loud at that speed. I'm leaving the CPU fan on auto. If you are doing anything intensive like video editing or Mac gaming you can now turn up your CPU and system fan speed to cool your case and CPU.
